    Poloished Aluminum Valve Covers

I am in the process of polishing a spare set of valve covers I have. I am doing it by hand so I am not getting the same out come as I would if I had the proper tools but after steel wool, wet sanding with 2000 grit, and metal polish it is very close to giving off that chrome shine that I am looking for. This will take some time due to everything being done by hand and what not but I think it will look awesome especially compared to the oxidized ones I have on her now. I will post pics as soon as I get one done or maybe one of what I have done so far with a write up on how I went about doing it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Will be interested to see how these hold up. Any way to throw a clear over the top to protect them?

That is my plan but it will have to be a high temp clear of some sort.

Now that you are getting close to that chrome look you are seeking, I would just have them chromed to assure a more durable finish that should not require the up keep that clear-coated covers will require.

I powder coated my early 06 covers when I built my first forged 6.1L in 07. Turned out great, and a lot less work...

Good luck man, and I hope your hands don't cramp up to bad.

It'd be nice for me to have a spare set; then I could have those done, replace on one car, then redo those, replace on a second car, then have those done, replace on a third car..... OH.... YOU get the idea.

Could get all of mine done ~LOL~

Not sure... I had the block, oil pan, intake manifold, and valve covers done at the same time for about $500.00 back then. I would guess you could get it done for 100-150, but that's just a guess.
