    I too have a black Mag.....Carrnuba Carrnuba Carrnuba !!!!

Wax in small circles IN THE SHADE , ON A COOL CAR !!
Let it form a "Haze" then get ready to rub .......
I use microfiber towels to "Rub"
rub until all wax haze is gone and surface is "slick" turning the cloth FREQUENTLY

do whole car......then sit back and admire.....

wash, clay bar, then wax. thin coats...I prefer using a machine like PC 7424, but by hand is fine. Use the softest microfiber you can find to buff out. I would recommend you look to investing $40 for towels, wax, car washing supplies. Multiple coats will give a deeper look but 2-3 coats is the max. When you are ready to step up to more involved detailing this will be a multistep process, but man the results are fantastic!

There is a ton of info and an informative DVD available through Gary Kouba at Perfect Auto Finish in Chicagoland. Check out his site and the info available. Even though I live in WV, I drove a car to his shop for detailing (during a trip to the area for another reason), and in the spring I will take the Heritage Edition.

His products and passion for detailing are tops, and application is easy and cost is quite reasonable vs. nearly any other alternative.

For example, if you've not waxed or sealed your car before, the FIRST thing you should do is wash and clay your ride... then wash again... then, and only then, apply wax or preferably a paint sealant for longer lasting protection.

In an word - "Zaino", loads of info there, something 'new' in the works apparently as well (search the forum for the word "zaino') - you will not be disapointed.

Check my photobucket spot for some pics....

I was standing in front of the car, you can see the hood crease in the lower left of the picture. That was after a day or two of doing Zaino layers. A lot of time, a lot of effort at first, do the basics right and it gets easier and easier as you go. That was one of those perfect shots, great lighting too.

Cost is relative, some folks swear by a $15 can of stuff from AutoZone, other (like me) don't might laying out $80-$100 for enough stuff to make a car sparkle for a year or more. I haven't washed it but once in about 3-4 months but when I do it shines damn nice. Water just about leaps off it still too.

Then there is RobAGD who does some masterful work with enough ingredients and equipment to make Chip Foose jealous. Really Rob, that Black CSRT8 you were doing at the SouthEastern Shindig (I forget who owns that taxi ) was freaking impressive, even if it wasn't Zaino.

Clay Bar is an awesome tool, read what was linked a couple of posts ago at the Zaino store - loads of good tips and advice.

It's also a good time to get together with others and have a few cold ones - many hands make light work and a good time is had by all..

Zaino takes a while the very first time. But VERY worth it. It's THE only product that has gone on our car since purchasing.

Try to find someone to help you, it will go a little quicker!

A great place to get started for me was to go to some specific detailing web sites.
