    Meguiars Detail List

Ok I spent a little time today looking into a few things.

I made a list of what I think people really should have for doing full on complete paint detailing, defect repair.

    Meguiars G-100 ( Comes with W64-DA Backing Plate and 1 8006 Pad )
    3 8006 Pads Polishing Pad
    2 9006 Pads Finishing Pad
1 7006 Pad Cutting Pad ( THIS NEVER GETS USED ON THE PAINT )
    2 X4003 Micro Fiber Bonnets (2 per kit )
    1 M8332 #83 Dual Action Polisher Cleaners 32oz
    1 M8032 #80 Speed Glaze 32oz
    1 M0716 #7 Show car Glaze 16oz
    1 G1016 Smooth Surface Clay Kit ( 100g Clay, MF Towel & 16oz Spray Detailer )
1 D15501 Last Touch Spray Detailer 1 gallon
    1 D20155 Bottle 32oz ( Last Touch )
    1 D110516 Standard Sprayer

Now your choice of one of the following :

    M2116 #21 Synthetic Sealant 16oz ( Blend between NXT Wax and #20 Sealant )
    G12718 NXT Generation™ Tech Wax 18oz
    M2616 #26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax 16oz
G7016 Gold Class Liquid Wax 16oz

Now pricing on this from Meguiars web store was in the $420 range, don't pass out yet because there are a few things to go over and some other options.

The G-100 is the same as the Porter Cable 7336 and 7424 Random Orbital Polisher/Sanders BUT the g-100 carries with it a life time warrante vs the 1 year on the PC units. The G-100 also comes with the W64DA backing plate and 1 8006 pad.

So if you Opt out of the G100 that takes off $225 ( thier price ) and you can find the PC's around around $100 + $20 + 15 for the backing plate and pad so thats saves you ~ $90

This will be enough product to do several cars several times. I am looking to talk to ADS to see if they will offer the package I have put together and see what kind of pricing I can get. They are a tad cheaper across the board then Meguiars web store by about $2 an item, and thier 6 pad pads deal is hard to beat.

So comments ? Intrest ? Something Not there that you would like to see in a package ?

Well the Scratches you have, thats called sand paper, primer, more sand paper and paint

The blob remover is a differnt product from Laugna ( I think ) I have some and have yet to use it. Some reason I never get around to the blobs.

    -Robert

If I was going to be snarky about hiding scratches I would mention the Z product

    Blob remover: Langka (http://www.langka.com/)

The Kit mentioned above is about the stuff I got from Auto Detailing Solutions. That and the DVD on how to use the PC on your car almost turns you into a professional detailer. It's a major step up from Wax On - Wax Off the old fashioned way.

    Robert,
That is a great list of stuff...
I might be interested in getting it.
These two items wont ship though,
(1 D15501 Last Touch Spray Detailer 1 gallon
    1 D20155 Bottle 32oz ( Last Touch ) )

and don't need the buffer. I hope they make the detailing section like discussed in other parts of the Forum.
Then all of these good links and info could be centralized.

Why wouldnt they ship ? D20155 is an empty bottle and well D15501 should ship, it is only spray detailer.

/me beats his head against the wall....

Ok if you had seen hammers scratches they are down into the primer, thats not fixable with out proper paint work eg. Sand, prime, sand, paint, paint, clear, clear, clear

As to other kits, there is a reason I put this list together, there isnt a kit this complete short of Starter Detailer kits that have way too much stuff.

What I am looking for is an intrest level to talk to some vendors about putting this package together for sale as a bundle w/ or w/o the G-100

There isnt anything in this for me, I have all this stuff and more.

    -Robert

Thats not a bad kit for doing it by hand, for $15 and a crap load of hand work you can get close to the same level of surface clarity with Scratch X followed by NXT or Cleaner Wax

Sorry... I hadn't seen hammer's scratches, so I assumed we were talking general scratches.

What about using the touchup and laguna stuff? any one have good results with that?

I already have the PC DA.

And I usually use the Meguiars NXT stuff...

I do... Clay... Meguiars scratch X, gold class paint cleaner, NXT Tech Wax, detail spray.

These guys are saying to do a coat of carnuba on top of your poly wax... and they price isn't that bad... $125 for the whole schebang.

If we are talking a complete detail kit, we should include car wash, tire shine, glass cleaner, clear plastic polish, interior wipes / armorall spray, leather conditioner / cleaner.

And what about applicators, drying towels, synthetic vs sheepskin mit etc...

Instead of using the clay bar I normally wet sand with some 3000grit sand paper than compound and buff from there etc...

RA - I was not looking for the wash as any non detergent will work ( Meguiars, Mothers, etc made for cars is fine )

As for towels, I am/was looking into the heart of what most pople would need, as far as doing tires, glass, carpet dash stuff I leave that up to what ever the user wants to use. Just so you get an idea that grey tote I drag around has close to $700 worth of detailing product ( no buffers or other tools, just product ). How many people are doing to drop $700+ on stuff to deatil thier car in one go ?

But 200-400 w/ a Buffer isnt such a bad deal and thats taking care of the thing most people tend to want to look the best.

I guess people just are not grasping what I was trying to work out for them with this.

I'm on board Rob, but I've already bought a bunch of stuff from Auto Detailing Solutions per the Shindig Detailing info thread. Plus I bought some more stuff (more towels, tire gel, etc).
