DETAILING - my contibutuion

Ok I have had my Black Mustang for years. Everything is black so when it's detailed it looks right purty. I always looked in the wheel wells and felt the blackish/gray color of the wells annoyed me.
On the magnum this grayish/balck of the wheel wells is also annoying especially when the car is cleaned and the wheels R a' glistenin'.

So here is my tip(some of you may do it, others may not have thought of it)...after soaking the tires with some dressing...I also spray the inside of the wheel wells...and since they are plastic on the LX cars, it looks awesome when the car is nice and clean and the tires are nice and shiny. Or you may want to wipe it on...your choice.

If you are concerned about getting the spray on the tires, throw an old rag to cover the top of the tires and possibly the brake caliper so you do not get the stuff onto the brakes. I do not use anything and have had no problems.

Also you may get more spray on your driveway so you may want to do it on the street (which I do just to spray the tires anyway).

Try it...and because there is so much wheel well on the LX's (ok you guys with the bling probably do not see as much) it makes a huge diff.

i never detail anyones car ,never mind my own with out doing just what u mentioned..

however i buy the cheapest tire shine i can find locally at pep girls or autozone etc, exclusivly for the wheel wells, im not gonna waste my good stuff for in there..

wasn't sure if everyone did this...and in all my years never heard anyone talk about it. I guess if you are a detailing shop would make sense. Never had anyone detail my cars...always did my own.

Good tips

Some of us do this already and just take it for granted that everyone else who does their tires also does the wheel wells.

Thank you for the reminder and the tip for those who havent done it before but wondered how it was achieved.

yes theres nothing like having a clean/waxed car, tires rims cleaned and shined up, u go to turn a corner and expose your ashy wheel wells..lol

good idea, but..... since I've never done it here is my concern. The tire black stuff I use is a little sticky. Doesn't the road dirt collect a lot more on the inner fender well after its been coated? I always wash the fender wells everytime I wash the car, and they get pretty dirty between washes (every Sat morn). I would think the gloss stuff would get dirty within a few miles, but like I said, I have not tried this. I guess the thing to do is to try it!

I use Meguiars #40 for the fender wells, seems to clean up easier as well.

yeah dont use a thick gooey dressing for the wheel wells, get a cheap bottle, like store brand, works just fine...i use turtle wax brand, like 4 bucks for a big spray bottle, (clear with green label)

like bookem said try not to use the sticky stuff....even the foam stuff works...if the wheel well is dirty, no problem the dirt will get black and oily as well. I have never washed the wells on Mag...just sprayed them with water and then the dressing. Also, as soon as it rains and you drive the car, a lot of the dressing in the wells will wash off(if not all), so you'll be doing it again. The goal is to eliminate the grayish contrast to the bright paint and shiny tires so that it doesn't detract from the visuals of a nice clean car.

ok, so I'll go get a cheap bottle of tire dressing and use that in the wheel wells. This sounds like a great idea, I'm always looking for a way to make the car look better!
