Petition to unlock the 2012 SRT8 PCM

I've never seen my tuner use a hand held tuner on a GM vehicle. He connects his HP tuning software directly to the cars PCM. No need for a hand held when GM is not changing the PCM. I haven't seen him tune a 2011 CTS-V yet, I have seen tune a 2010 CTS-V. I have seen him tune a 2011 Camaro SS. And I would bet that GM's encryption is the same on both PCM's!

Ask him if he can tune a Camero ZL1 or a 2011 CTS-V.

I'm sick of trying to make you understand that GM and Ford do not release there PCM code. They do encrypt it.

I lived in Detroit for 30 years. I have family that work for GM, Ford and Chrysler, so what the hell do I know about the auto industry? PM me if you'd like to talk about it on the phone and I'll give you my number.

I'm not the one who compared the PCM to Microsoft. Which is what started me down this track. The point is the PCM is a hardware appliance. Just like those devices. GM and Ford DO encrypt there PCM's. They would be stupid not to. GM must be using a new PCM in the CTS-V and Camero ZL1 since they are not listed in the Trinity options.

I will shoot my tuner a email and find out it he is tuning any 2011 CTS-V's. If I'm not mistaken right before I came to work in Trinidad, he told me he had a 2012 Camaro SS convertible coming in to get tuned.

Diablo isn't the only ones that offer tuning software! RPM MotorSports-Garner, NC has been tuning GM vehicles for the past 7 years. He just became a CMR dealer for Diablo about 2 weeks ago and this is because he is starting to get more Chrysler customers. If I'm not mistaken Chrysler owners are Diablo's largest customer base.

Why is every one acting like Diablo are the only company that offers tuning software! Most GM tuners I've seen use HP tuning software on their laptops and connect directly to the cars PCM. They don't use hand held tuners.

I'm just sick of people spreading rumors. GM and Ford do the same as Chrysler. They ALL encrypt there PCM code. They would be stupid not too. It is Industrial property and protects them from lawsuits if someone makes changes to it and they don't know what they are doing.

Just to throw this out there: 5.0 tuning was happening immediately, but the results have been catastrophic for more than a few. It's not like the aftermarket is given "the key" by Ford. I know CVP33 was saying he didn't want to go through the "dark ages" where motors were blown trying to figure out this issue....well, it's no different for the Coyote(5.0) motor or the ecoboost.

As of 2 months ago Ford had almost 30 confirmed cases of the number 8 cylinder going in the 5.0. These were from around the country, tuned by multiple respected tuners, and these are only the motors they were brought(certainly the real number is higher). Ecoboosts are having an issues as well. Dealers were recently issued memos stating that if ANY tampering above stock is done to either of these motors, the warranty will be immediately voided. Obviously more than a few of you don't care about the warranty, I'm just throwing it out there that the guys with giant paperweight Mustangs wouldn't agree that Ford makes the tuning "easy".
