Is the Imperial MORE likely with Cerberus?!

    Hi Guys!!

To be honest - being a long time Chrysler 'fan' - I felt hurt [for lack of a better word] when I heard that Chrysler was sold. [DCX basically PAID Cerberus 3/4's of a billion to take 80.1 % of Chrysler off of their hands] But maybe the future looks bright after all. And just maybe - the odds are IN favour of cars like the Imperial being produced. [Which is something I'd love to see]

Same thing here, I doubt they will manufacture this car, especially when they are looking to cut models right now.

It was going into production, until cerebus took over and axed it. It will not see the light of day.

I think the public was against a bigger, gas-guzzling car from anyone. Most here were none too fond of the styling. There's a thread on it somewhere.

it's funny, this board has a high Magnum to 300 ratio and most magnum guys don't like the Imperial, but if you go to the 300 boards everyone wants it....

I think the Imperial would have added a little spark to the Chrysler fleet.
It needs a very classy intrant.

One could hardly expect a "Dodge" customer to appreciate a classy Chrysler.

And so you "Dodge" customers don't get too offended, I myself don't care for a classy looking car. I'm a little too 'red-neck".

I am both a Dodge and Chrysler fan. (well Jeep too) I like both the sproty and the classic looks. If they did do an Imperial, it should have a low, long, wide look. It needs to be classy like the 70's Imperials. Hood ornament and all.

Who knows the future, but they have to make a profit first and foremost. When I was 20, I thought all mopars were hideous 1971. Today old Mopars give me wood, especially the 300's and Imperials. If they ever do an Imperial, it had better be one hell of a car! Forget about Caddy and Lincoln, it's gotta compete with the big Mercedes and Bmws and Lexi. A V12 or V16 hemi would look pretty sweet under the hood! It would be nice for an American car company to have a benchmark luxury car finally.

I most certainly can appreciate a classy Chrysler, or a classy anything. The Imperial was a joke.

I was the first one to point out the resemblance, and do so again now.

Besides... there is absolutely zero chance that blimp on wheels will fit into the new CAFE requirements.

One of the first things Cerebus did when they took over Chrysler was kill the Imperial.

They need to kill the styling of that one but they need the model.

Cererbus' plans of just shrinking Chrysler will mean the company will be out of business in 20 years or less. They need to work on new product that is best in class, not just cutting models.

Now that they are no longer tied to Mercedes they can offer S Class alternatives at lower prices. At the very least they can go head to head with the STS.

If you look at the 3 times that Chrysler managed upswings in the last 30 years it was always done with new product, not cost cutting.

Bean counters never create anything worthwhile.
