    Exclamation Imperial Dead?

    IMPERIAL DEAD?

Its trickled down the grapevine from "a little birdie" to the ear of LXForums that sometime in the next week, there will be an announcement that the Imperial has been canceled.

Could this be the first slash and burn tactics of Cerberus, or has the Chrysler Group taken a breather on producing a car above the 300 until they are a more stable financial footing?

Either way, the "love it or hate it" Imperial looks to be extending its absence from the Chrysler product line.

Kinda makes sense -- they have some other pressing issues, and IMHO, this IMPERIAL will not be a hit.

I liked the idea of the imperial....but the execution was not going to be like the concept car. It would have been popular for those wanting the next level of bling car. A rolls royce look alike. I personally wouldn't have purchased one as it was too big. Hopefully they decide to cut some more dead weight away so that what they are doing good in keeps going.

Well, I cannot say I am suprised. Anytime a new company takes over - usually anything in "the works" at the time gets cancelled. Do I think that the Imperial would be a tasteful addition, and cater to those more apt to buy a Mercedes S Class or equivalent? Yes, but then again - I am not one of those people

WOW!! Once again everyone gets this information before the employees do. At least this way, if it's true, we get to keep our proposed concessions for a while longer.
There has been lots of discussions on the shop floor regarding the need for another large car. I for one thought it may have enhanced the whole LX line by catering to the up-scale and the Limo market, something DCX has been missing out on.
IMHO: It's like the Daytona isn't just about selling the few thousand Go Mango, Top Banana or even ChargerChick's new Plum Crazy, it's about getting people into the showrooms and buying ANY DCX product.
Well, I certainly hope we do hear something, anything at all, this week.
Good find Dmag and keep us posted.

Good riddance. Imagine the effect a car like this has on CAFE requirements. Chrysler needs all the playing room it can get its hands on to keep its truck line intact.

Yea, not really all that suprised... but still, I for one am a little bit dissapointed. Not sure if I'd have ever been in the market for the Imperial, but I'd have atleast liked to have seen one on the road or in the showroom... oh well.

Personally I thought it was umm, not the coolest looking car - is one way of putting it.

If they'd have produced it, I wouldn't have bought one...

I tried to like it, but I couldnt...I didnt like the lights, and didnt like the way the rear was designed.

But, hey I am not a designer, there...so what does my opinion matter.

thats just it. They didnt try very hard to make this cool. They already have the middle aged driver wanting a hemi area covered 3-fold. Challenger will sweep up what charger missed by being a 4 door. I guess they were thinking high end luxury here but if thatsthe case. aesthetics are all the mor important. You cant call fugly hip and expect people to say ok. mean it worked with those weird plastic shoes for kids but those done cost 5 figures.

Yeah, I don't think anyone here will have their hopes and dreams crushed by this announcement... and we're about the biggest enthusiasts modern Chrysler has.

How about a medium crossover like the GM Lambda?
