Hemi Friendly shops in central/northern Va?

What's up guys, I'm kinda new here. I am from central/northern Va. I am looking to get heads and cam and maybe some other things, probably also a CMR tune done on my SRT. So far from talking to people at the track (Richmond Dragway & MIR) I have been recommended to go to Route 6 Motorsports in Richmond. The guys I talked to swore by them, and also said that their tuner they have for CMR stuff is the most experienced and best around. From what I saw of their cars I don't doubt them, looked like they do awesome work, I was very impressed. I was surprised a search didn't come up with much for these guys though, but then again, a search didn't come up with much in general for this area. Though I'm leaning towards them and was definitely impressed, just exploring what else is around here since I'm not from here, before I make my decision. So far everyone I've ran into at the tracks were cool, I look forward to meeting more of you

Ujokin and USCG Charger have used DTP I believe.
They've said good things...but probably worth a pm to each of them.

Matt at Michigan Hemi Performance (MHP) a supporting vendor does traveling installs. If you had another person or two needing an install he drops in and does outstanding work for a price you wont be able to beat. You will still need the CMR done after though.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Talk to the guys in DTP as previously stated they did the CMR tune on mine and they will sit with you and make sure you understand what is going on and give you some tips on how to get better, they also do cams, heads, etc.. The owner Frank drives a SRT 300, so he know the LX cars pretty good. Just my $0.02. You can fine them on the SRTconnection forum.

If you have the install area ( Enclosed garage ) my suggestion would be Hemi31 for the install, if you can get 1 or 3 others lined up for installs it works out better all around.

As for tuning, short of a dyno tune I suggest Lafrad.

If you want a brick and mortar place MachV has some great mechnical guys and they have done a good amount of work on the LX cars. They Also have a Dyno but they do not tune the LX cars.

Have you decied on what bits you are going to install yet ?

YEP- I have to agree with Typicalmarine, Matt from MHP is the option that I went with.

In your area, I would say Brad King at Route 6, if you want to take the car somewhere, come here(Northern KY, 1 mile South of Cincinnati OH).

We have inhouse Dyno, paint-body, and of course can install heads/cam/strokers/ forced induction strokers and more.

I have called them and they told me they were not interested in doing LX's anymore. This was 4-6 months ago though... Have you been by there lately Rob?

I would also recommend Route 6 for sure. Brad does excellent work.

said that their tuner they have for CMR stuff is the most experienced and best around.
    I've heard the same

He does not have an in-house dyno but his tuner will go to whatever area dyno is convenient.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I talked to the guy at DTP the other week and while he seemed knowledgeable, he seemed more interested in talking **** about all his competitors than taking care of my needs, which kinda turned me away. I don't want to give business to anyone like that and after talking to some other people who have dealt with him I've since learned its the norm there. Pretty sure I will be going the way of Route 6, I talked to their tuner a little bit on the phone and was pleased with his knowledge and experience he seemed to have. I have heard good things about Lafrad too, but this guy Brad @ Route 6 has tuning for him is local, and can meet me at the dyno, and from what I've been told, is the best out there, and more than fair on the pricing.

As for mods, I have an SRT8 Charger, right now pretty set on PPP heads & Race cam, haven't decided on headers yet though. Already has the basic intake/exhaust/180 thermo.
