    Angry Dealer troubles: "Ridin Dirty"

I hit a milestone this week and was ready for my FIRST oil change.
I had a business trip scheduled for the week, so I planned on dropping my car off on the way to the air port, and picking it up when I returned on thurs.
Heck, the parking fees I avoided were going to pay for the oil change, so why not!

My local 5 STAR dealer changed my oil, and replaced my oil cooler because I reported what appeared to be a oil leak on the fron edge of the oil pan.
Well, it also looks as if I got the 5 STAR treatment and they returned the oil a lost in the leak, by rubbing it into the interior and exterior.

The nose of the car was smeared with oil, and they wiped most it off with a rag, the windhield had oil on it and they used the wipers to remove (smear) it. To there credit, the did attempt to get the oil off of the windshield by using the windshield washer (looks as if the sprayed salt water on it and let it dry. It also looks as if they topped off my underhood fluids with the same "salt water" they clean windows with.
Did I say fluid top off pretty much covered the entire rite side of my engine compartment?
They made sure the all of the little hard to get places on my intake runners and filter box got the "saltwater fluid top-off" treatment.

I did call the service manager, and he offered to have my car washed the next time I bring it in for service. (I wasn't to happy about that thought)
The more I thought about it the more mad I got.

I figured I'd take a trip up there Saturday morning and see them, and only the junior guys were there, he said that he heard the service mgr talk about this.

I dropped off photos of the door but not the "fluid top-off"

I told the Jr. guy to give my photos to the mgr. and I would expect that I'll be getting a call on monday.

Question: am I being a a$$? I am anal about keeping my NEW car spotless, but what should I expect in return?

It's going to take hours of cleaning to get it back to the shape it was in before I dropped it off. (I have two swiffers, one for interior and another for the engine bay, plus a cali duster for the body. Not to mention clay bar and all of the standard detailing tools.....

No, your not being an azz. That's flat out unacceptable and they should bend over backwards to kiss your butt over it. I would really make a big deal about what happened. If this is the type of professionalism you receive, did the guy even tighten your filter, WTF.

the "salt water" stains under the hood are residue from incomplete rinse after engine shampoo. as for the oil on the windshield and body, there's always some overspray from shampooing an engine, they should have washed it. there is no excuse for the interior.

I sit here and wonder, "engine shampoo" is he joking?

I had drips of oil coming from the lowest part of the engine, they repalce the oil cooler (I saw the oil on the pan not the cooler) and I get an engine shampoo??
My engine bay was CLEAN ROOM DUST FREE. I actually would use a paint brush and canned air to get the dirt out of the cracks. There was no need to clean anything.

The explanation I was given for the engine bay was " from topping of the fluids"
I guess I need to ask, what fluid contains that much mineral material that is approved for use by DCX?
There is pink residue on my filter box that I guess came from the topping of of the coolant, but why? it wasnt low the last time I cleaned the car (24 hours before I drove it to the dealer) why are they filling it?

Every time I think of this I just get more and more angry, I went from giving the sales staff of the dealer my highest marks, I really enjoyed the service I received from their sales staff, and the service staff are 180 degrees the other way.

That's just unacceptable! Your not wrong for feeling the way you do. They should be offering you a complete detailing. If that was my car, I would be showing them the foot to a$$ technique.

    Exclamation

Seems like typical "5-star" treatment. I'd be mad too, no excuse.

My local dealer is 4 miles from the house, but I drive 25 mi. for dealer svc since my wife sat and waited 3 hrs for an oil change one day.

WOW...I'd definitely let the Serivce Manager see those pix, and if it happens again, find another dealer.

    Talking

Thanks everyone for the vote of support!!

Today, I met with the dealer service manager and I provided a 2 page accounting of the issues I found and my dissatisfaction with the service I had received.
He looked my dead in the face and said " I failed you", and then pointed to his team Manager, and said "he failed you, We all failed you."

He and I talked about the problems and he stated he wanted me as a customer and wanted make things right. At that point we identified the items he was going to fix. Basically start from scratch, they were going to recheck the three warranty related issues I brought in and re-accomplish everything. They hand cleaned the lower half of the engine to remove any traces of the oil leak I reported. The hand detailed the engine bay to remove the splattered coolant that was left there. Then a full detail of the entire car, inside and out.

I'll be honest, it looked like they to a lint roller to it. Not a speck of dust or cat hair to be found. Every square inch of glass in the car was crystal clear. The re-accomplished the cleaning I did on the oil spots on the door and sill and applied a fresh cost of low shine protectant to everything that gets it and then stated on the outside. The same care was taken there, not square inch of the car was left unpolished.

We discussed aftermarket parts and the service Mgr told the Team Mgr to make me a good deal on the hex grill. They were having a computer problem in the parts Dept. so he is going to fax the details to my office in the morning.

Did I say they footed the bill for Black Charger I drove for the day? (Black isn't faster)

I'll make the following statement, My local Dodge dealer did me right. I feel that he was bing honest in saying they he was sorry, and other than going back in time, he did his best effort to ensure that I was happy. (other than giving me the SRT-8 from the showroom floor (not his dept) to drive for the day.

    HAPPY CAMPER STATUS RESTORED

    Bill
