Depends on how long it takes the tuner to get past all the restrictions in the PCM regarding the trans......then you can consider the cost of the motor and driveline

Seeing as though no one has done it yet.... I cannot give you an exact price.

Im sure it is possible though. There are a few different combos out there right now that are running fairly consistent 9's, so I think we will see an 8-second pass next year for sure. But no matter how much money you dump into the drivetrain, your car is only gonna run as good as your tuner is.

We are gutted, stroked, blown, and built factory drive line (nag, 2 piece shaft, stock diff and gears). No spray though. That setup runs mids 9's all day.

If you have tons of money, build a 1500hp Gen2 hemi and run a powerglide. Ditch the TCM/PCM.

I would have to agree with that as well. That was the wild card for me after reading the thread title, and I was gonna suggest that at this point in time, you would probably be better off with a built automatic.

    Spray that thing!

This thread was started because I saw the new Camaro just ran an 8 in the 1/4 so I figured I would see what it took to get an SRT in the 8's.......

X2-first you wont be able to launch a 6 speed like you can a auto even with roll control.
second-to pull off a 8 sec run-you cant out shift a auto trans.
and in order to run 8's the entire chassie will need to be reworked-major weight reduction to the car and that 6 speed will explode with the horse power needed to run nines
SURE theres viper guys out there runing low 8's and even 7's and keep blowing up their 6 speeds [same trans] so most of them have switched over to GM 2 speed power glides JUST like the striped out drag pac challengers.
once you get in to the high 9's its hard to shift fast enuff with a stick and the input shaft has its limits of hp it can handle
AND your not doing 8's with that IRS rear end in it and hope for it to be able to drive you home-you will need a 4 link set up with a dana 44 or a ford 9 inch

I'd be unstoppable if it wasnt for Physics & Law enforcement
