question please

I talked to 2 dealers today and besides from saying I would have to be EXTREMELY LUCKY to get a 2008 Challenger they said that they will be in full production for 2009. They said that all the 2008s are automatics and you can't really order all the options. Plus, in 09 you can get a 5 speed manual, order whatever options and colors that are available and you won't have to haggle about paying over sticker.
Now, does this sound right? It sounds reasonable to me. Ha anyone heard differently?
I told my dealer 2 years ago that I definitely wanted one and told him I would give him a deposit then, but I've not payed much attention to what was going on since then. My Magnum RT is 3 years old and now I'm ready!!!! but I'll totally wait a year to avoid the BS and get mine perfect.

Any thoughts?

You are wise, although i got an order in early i did not have to go over msrp but many folks have. I would say about 1 in 10 dealers would sell at msrp. I dont HAVE to have a car right now so cxled my order but i'll get a late 09 just the way i want it plus maybe a little more hp.

6400 SRT-8'S for 2008 ( according to edmonds.com, still nothing official from Chrysler), 2009 will see the 5.7L and "track pack" versions... options on the '08's are sunroof, nav radio, summer tires...that's it...oh, and orange, black or silver...

um... you will also have a 3.5 liter 4spd auto version.....

I drove one this week....

it even has 18" srt replica wheels on it... and cloth interior.
