    Angry Possible factory defect

On the 08 Challenger bucket seats; near the back of seat , where the plastic is connected to the seat section, the bolt goes through and rubs on the leather seats. This will wear a hole in the leather seat bottoms. ( Not the backs of the seats ) It is the same on the passenger bucket seat. Check yours out and see.

Not exactly related, but in my '03 Dodge Durango, the seat frame was starting to wear through the vinyl seatback on the driver's seat by 40,000 miles. It annoyed the daylights out of me everytime I would clean the car and saw that.

Can you shorten the bolt to keep it from rubbing?

Not without taking the seat apart. I'm contacting the dealer in the morning. Took a picture but don't know how to post it.

That does protrude pretty far. Maybe you can wedge a piece of felt or scrap leather in between the bolt end and the seat bottom to protect the seat until the dealer can fix the seats.

I've never seen anything like that! Either the bolt is too long, or the assembler got a little too happy with the air ratchet.

The first 2 pictures are of the passenger seat outside. The third picture is of the passenger seat on the inside.

I have the same issue on my 08 Magnum R/T. Same bolt touching the seat leather/vinyl on both the left and right sides. I think that bolt needs a cover/jacket. I'm going to look into this. Thanks for pointing it out. I never noticed until now.

even a vacuum fitting cap over the bolt end looks like it would work. that bolt looks like its in the right place to be what would normally be the seat belt anchor bolt. with the challenger having the belt anchored to the floor instead, perhaps the bolts are just threaded farther in, causing them to interfere.

    Here's my fix.

I've fixed the problem with screw covers. I got them at ACE Hardware. They were 51 cents each. For the Challenger they are 71 cents each. They are over sized for the application but the smaller ones stuck out more. I didn't use any glue. They are held in by the pressure of the seat cushion.
