LC Please tell me I'm not the only one who drove somewhere without the key..

Yeah, I went to the carwash and realized I didn't have my FOB. How is this even possible! Try explaining this to the person you ask to bring the FOB to you! Yes I'm a jackass.

keyless go. if the fobik is in range when you hit start, but you leave it somewhere (your coat on a chair beside your car. or in a car beside yours.) then it wont start later.

Isn't it supposed to kill the engine when the fob gets out of range???

This is exactly why I hate Start Buttons! I'm so glad my car does not have one. A lot of people called me crazy, but here you go. PROOF! I'm not sure about the older cars w/this feature, but I too thought that the engine was supposed to shut-off if the key got to far away. Either there's a glitch w/your car requiring service, or it's not going to shut-off and my point has been proven. My dad just bought a Mazda 6 w/a Start button, and he too told me it's supposed to shut-off. He then proceeded to try and demonstrate. He walked at least 100 feet, and the car stayed on! My main concern is valet parking. Even if the car shuts off, the distance required could have the valet down a hill somewhere, and you in the restaurant. At the least, it's an inconvience as the valet will have to retrieve the key. At the most, the car shuts off, the steering wheel locks up, and your car crashes b/c of it. No thank you. Give me an old fashioned ignition key any day.

Or your car is parked close enough to the where they keep the keys and someone breaks, turns it on with no problems. I just made that up so not sure if its possible lol

I can't see that being a problem. Half the time it doesn't start when I'm sitting in the damned thing with the FOB. Lol

actually, you could end up doing this with an older LX too if the key would come out after starting. ive done this with other models before. driven it somewhere without a key in the ignition. you need the key only for the first 5-10 seconds of run time. after that, it doesnt matter.

Sure as hel! ain't me, you can have my keys when you pry them out of my cold dead hands. I finally have a car nice enough to valet(I once drove my stripper model Toyota to a 5 star restaurant . I was beyond embarrassed) and I won't ever take it to a valet place anyways. But some people might, you never know.

Ok fine, but if the engine shuts off you'll lose the power steering. Try steering a 2 ton car w/o power steering, and you're just as likely to crash.
