Looks like Champion is making the Royal Purple filter and if Chrysler switches to Pennzoil Platinum for the SRT's they don't make a 0w40 grade and will have to change the 0w40 designator for SRT's.
Me, I change my own oil and will use Valvoline Synpower or Amsoil, or Royal Purple first!

Amsoil and the Amsoil filter in both my CSRT8 and my RT Magnum.

    Personally I can't stand Pennzoil.

Whatever you run, make sure the ZDDP count is not less than 1000ppm.

I'm pretty sure the old Mobil1 API SL formulation was 1200ppm ZDDP (anyone have a better stat on this?). The new Mobil1 0W40 formulation, API SM, is 1000ppm ZDDP (these are the phosphorus molecules that help keep your engine running smoothly). The lower the Phosphorus ppm, the harder the oil is on your engine.

Do some shopping around. Amsoil, and Royal Purple would be my first choices for oil. WIX, or Amsoil would be my choices for filters.

High ZDDP levels are not important with our Vehicles. The concern on ZDDP is for older Flat Tappet engines. Not the current roller cam or OHC Engines.

    ZDDP kills Catalytic Converters.

It might happen, Mopar's conventional 5W20 is not being produced now, Chrysler is sending cases of Pennzoil 5W20 now. Haven't heard anything about the Mobil 1 stuff yet...

Cool. Thanks for clearing that up.

I was under the impression that lower phosphorus levels were bad for our cars.

That's why this place is so great. I learn something just about every time I log in

Valvoline Synpower is actually great oil. I've used it in my Magnum since 1st oil change (theres a comparison chart on a pro-Amsol site where it meets or beats M1 in almost every catagory......not trying to dis M1 and start a debate.......the frequency of which most on this site change there oil and filter, you could probably use horse spit and be OK).
What I am mostly interested in is if anyone knows if Royal Purple has a filter that fits the 6.1 Hemi.
