Looking to buy a Muffler for my SE

I am looking to change my muffler on my Challenger SXT (SE). I have never done this before so what kind of information would I need to know in order to get a muffler.

    What Diameter? etc...

If anyone can answer these questions it'd be greatly appreciated.

It probably is 2.25" O.D. but I would check with your local Dodge Dealer Parts Dept. to make sure. Also look at the muffler to see if the inlet is off-center or center fit into the housing and the same look at the opposite side were it exits for the same thing. Then its just a matter of what brand you like. I prefer Mack Mufflers in stainless steel... Oh yea, I would find a reliable muffler shop to do the install, this way it is welded back in place, and they can make up the new hangers you will need.

2.5" offset in and offset out. Go short 13" or 14" shell on which ever muffler you decide because with the resonator in place the sound is not going to change a bunch.

    Thanks for the information.

What about if I cut the resonator off?

It would have more effect then replacing the muffler with another muffler, cheaper too.

Does anyone have a "How to" on a resonator delete? Is it difficult? Require any welding or anything. I apologize for my ignorance on the subject

You will need a tailpipe to put back in place of the resonator, and some hangers and optional chrome tips. Better off going to a muffler shop and have it done...
