Don't be hatin' Check this out, maybe it will open your eyes....

Hey guys, I thought I posted a copy of the Nationwide Auction report for Challengers. I know some of you understand profit and some... well... you know. Anyway, this should open some eyes, if not, I don't know what else to say. remember these cars are equiped differently, MSRP from 39900 to 42900.

First don't misunderstand my comments because I believe in capitalism it is what has made the country great. But I am sorry but I think its just plain greed to take a slot on the waiting list just to turn it around to make a few bucks.

Its one thing for a dealer to maximize their profit when they can because most of the time they are working on slim margins. But when so many legitimate Mopar lovers want these cars its is sad to see people driving up the prices like this.

That can't be smart... no matter what, even if the car still has 1 mile on it, it'll be a used car, meaning the buyer will not be the original owner. With such an iconic car, any serious Mopar buff or collector will want to be the first owner...

The pricing is driven and listed as a result of consumer demand. even though a dealer has a sticker price of $so much over MSRP, there will always be a butt for that seat. I have said many times, that I too, will not spend over MSRP for one of these but I have sold 3 Challengers personally for my team and each one of the customers that paid in excess of 10k over, didn't sweat it one bit, they love the car and are extremely happy and I think they should be, they got one bad arse ride. enjoy.

If the Auction is pulling 45-52 for these still, that is the consumer puting a price on the car not the dealer. just a little FYI. I was shocked to see dealers letting them go at auction. I think there is something else going on. See these cars are making people almost RICH overseas, Chrysler will fine a dealer if a challenger is sold for export. I think a dealer is accepting money on the side to run them through auction, to not get fined by the big dogs. so they get the 50k at auction and they arleady received 10k from the buyers on the side. just my thought. cuz they are trying every way possible to get away with exporting them.

I have had personal offers between $75,000 and $90,000 to sell them for export overseas. I wont loose my job to even consider it. Much more I would rather a local customer enjoy the car.

While I see and understand what you are saying, the smart buyer will order an 09 and get it at MSRP or below and get more options, ie,6peed manual. If a customer just has to have one, then it's on him to pay over what the MSRP is.
Me, I can wait a few month's for my SRT under MSRP to be delivered and production is suppose to start this week!

Actually when it comes to these cars at auction, the buyer or end user still gets the factory warranty and can even take advantage of extended warranties and discounted prices in some states. The car has yet to be titled as well, 90% of the buyers at auction are exporters and when these cars are shipped overseas they loose all warranty and guarantees period. NO warranty, no guarantee and they have to wait months for replacement parts. Would suck to have to wait for a repair in the UK on a Challenger.

I wouldn't say it's the "smart" buyer. It's all about your priorities and patience (or lack of, in my case). I didn't want a manual, and I kinda like that I'm one of the first owners and have a numbered badge on my dash. I paid 5 over and I don't feel ripped off at all. They wanted 30 over.

Amen, and that is the consensus when it comes to actual "owners" VS "dreamers" and "complainers" the owner is happy, I have two retail customers that are extremely happy with their purchase at $20,000 over and the same happy customers at $5,000 over, I sold 2 at $5,500 and a few at $7,000 and two at $10,000. Each and every owner is happy with their decision.

Congrats on your purchase and I envy you, I personally couldn't afford one at the moment, I have to deal with my 08 Charger SRT8 Super Bee and even that I purchased preowned #103, I love it though and so do both of my boys, both still in child seats, you can understand why I am in the Charger vs Challenger.

    Enjoy your Challenger, great color!

Not sure about State side but here in Ontario, Manhiems is a dealer only auction ..

So it's still not the consumer setting the prices as the dealers will buy with a sale price above what they paid to obviously make a profit..

Happy and smart are not necessarily the same thing. They may be happy, but it was not smart to pay that much over the MSRP for ANY car that will depreciate and take an enormous hit not only on the value of the car, but the totally lost 'surcharge' as well. Hardly smart there...

So what? Its a free market. Its not like they are being sold to a Ford dealership where they will be rebadged with horsies on the fenders.

If you are a Mopar lover, you will get your car. If you are so impatient you just can't wait a few months (or you can't find a better deal like so many here have), open your wallet. Simple. Pay to play.
