My local deal has a fully loaded SRT8 Challenger orange with rally stripes sickered at $83K. They even posted a sign "please do not touch".

WOW i thought the dealer by me was on crack when i saw they wanted 54000 for a fully loaded orange one..
They will never sell at those prices, not with the 09's right around the corner w/ 6-speeds and LSD for sticker, or possibly below.

$83K???
My experience with a dealer concerning the 2008 Challenger that they were selling for $20K over MSRP was quite interesting.
Two salesmen told me that the Challenger should sell for the same price as high powered Mercedes and BMW’s (in the $60K's to $80K's).
In return I told them that American muscle cars should be sold at a price that the average wage earner could easily afford one. Who were driving the 440 Chargers, Cuda’s, Roadrunners, GTO’s, SS396’s in the 60’s and 70’s? It sure wasn’t a bunch of rich old men, which is about all who can afford $20K over MSRP.
I then turned and walked away.

If they don't get a "sucker" soon, they won't get one. As soon as the '09's start coming, they will be calling all the people who walked out previously to try to make a deal. From what I heard, the two my local dealer, Charlie's Dodge had, went for 10K over sticker. They generate a lot of showroom traffic, and I think that Challengers will sell well, for a while anyway. I just hope they still make them when I am ready to buy again.
They are out of there mind !
That's a great price.....stammer on over and buy it.
The dealer I bought my Charger from has a black one at 85K. I said out loud in the showroom, "they're smoking crack" and walked out.

"The Chopper," our local "King of Cars" TV show dealer, had the black Challenger that's pictured on our web site for sale for $65,000. The sales person tried to sell the idea that the cars, being numbered, limited editions, would only go up in value. Riiiiiight. The key to making any good "investment" is buying it right, not overpaying $20K based on emotion, but waiting a couple years and buying a "used" first edition with only a couple thousand, pampered miles on it, for $10,000 to $20,000 UNDER it's original MSRP. The automakers job is to constantly come up with reasons to get people to buy. There will always be "the next hot thing." For the Challenger, that means new colors, new options, more powerful engines, convertibles, etc. Life is short. Buy what you love and enjoy it ... but buy it right.Joe
