    Challenger Paint???

Was at the dealer yesterday to see if they would take my Mag in on an orange Challenger.

The irony was that the paint was so "orange" peeled it looked dull. The front fender appeared to have some filler in it as you could see an obvious and poorly done repair had been performed. No way would that car be worth 45k.

There was a Charger there as well with a very attractive or paint job<softer than the Challenger color. The paint was flawless.

    So what gives????????????????????

I can tell you when mine was custom painted, (Kept the main TorRed) there was so much orange peel in the original paint (Actually looked Orange in the right light), after mine was done I had it next to a factory TorRed and there is a BIG difference. Yes the Factory paint sux.
As far as body work probably done during shipping, like 2006 Magnum said

Yeah, mine is pretty rough, too. It looks good, but it's not as "silky smooth" as the cars I have had painted black over the years.

OMG thought it was just my Challenger. There is a pinhole in the paint on the roof and a fricken area of paint that popped off the rear trunk. It started from under the rear spoiler end ended about 1/4" below the spoiler that caused me to repaint the whole trunk lid right now as I type this. I'm pissed about this. Paint shop says the dealer should pay, however since I removed the spoiler for a aftermarket one I'm sure they will say it happend during the removal so I'm stuck paying for it. Not good paint or paint job by Chrysler!

It has been pretty much the luck of the draw for the painting on the Challenger's some have come out excellent but most have a lot of the orange peel. The only way to smooth it out is to block the entire car and be prepared to repaint if you sand thru, for the most part almost all of the new cars have this type of paint finish even Corvettes so best bet is to polish it up and nobody's goona know the difference as your cruising down the road and half of the people looking won't notice it either. If your into judged cars shows that's a whole other animal and years from now people will be looking for the orange peel to determine if was repainted. If you really want to make yourself crazy all Challengers have like 4 or 5 spots that you have factory dents by the door handles and in the fenders and the rear quarters these are flaws in the stamping process. Have a good day

As I lay rubber down the street, I pray for traction I may keep, and if I do begin to slide, please dear God protect my ride! - Amen!!!!
