    Thumbs up Challenger on Cruise

    Challenger on Cruise

    Edmunds.com

We take the wheel of the Dodge Challenger concept car for a combination driving impression, focus group and publicity stunt.

What would you do if someone handed you the keys to a sexy zillion-dollar concept car? You'd go show it off to your buds, right?

So when DaimlerChrysler bravely agreed to let us take its Dodge Challenger concept car out in public and play for a day, we knew exactly where to go. The Challenger design study paves the way for a retro-revival production vehicle intended to fire passions in enthusiasts of all ages. (Doesn't "2007 Dodge Challenger" have a promising ring?) So in an exercise that was one part driving impression, one part focus group and one part crass publicity stunt, we spent 20 miles behind the wheel of the Challenger in real traffic, and showed up at two of Southern California's most popular Saturday-morning car-people gatherings.

I can't believe this idiot is letting Junior smear baby formula and snot on the Challenger. Plus......he's probably dragging the stroller across the bumper. Grrrrrr!

It's okay, Butweet. He was just picking off bugs to eat!

I'm not sure I get it. Isn't a car SUPPOSED to look this good?

I just hope that they don't offer anything other than V8 varieties. I don't have anything against V6s, but I'd like this car to maintain its mystique and its elite muscle status. That will also help keep it rare and ensure that any sightings of it will be all that more exciting!

I second that thought! Flaming may come of it though, but I also would like to see it only in Manual trans versions...
