I sometimes get the same thing on the bad potholes...I had the dealer look at my front swaybar links, and they said everything was tight.
I also read in another post, that it was the front brake pads.....they said to get some of the Permatex anti squeak jel, and coat the back of the pads, and this should stop the noise. I haven`t done it yet, but it is on my list of to do`s.

I noticed a noise whenever I hit some bumps in the road coming from the front end. Not quite the tin can noise you described.

I had the car in for some other work. When I picked it up they told me that they had noticed a noise from the front end while they were road testing it and that they replaced the tension struts. I have no idea what those are, but my noise going over bumps has stopped.

The invoice says 4782613AC STRUT-SUSPENSION replaced.

To me the sound was more of a rattle of something loose, more plastic sounding, but it might be worth the effort if you are still under warranty to have them check the tension struts.

You might want to also check out if your tie-rod end is shot on that side. That's what happened to mine and every time I went over bumbs in the road, it made a metal-on-metal type noise. - Good luck.

thats what fixed it for me, except i used th crc brake quiet..same stuff different manf.

and thi swas after the dealership replaced my rack and pinion, nope that wasnt he cause of the noise, then they replaced both yension struts, nope that wasnt the noise, untill i figured out, by reading other post on here, i think its the brake pads and sure enough they were the noise makers..
i then applied the crc brake quiet to the front pads, gave them 10 minutes to dry , put hte pads back in, all has been well ever since, other than a damn brake squeel i never had untill i messed with the pads..now i cant get rid of the squeel, untill i get new pads and rotors, come spring time, lol

    Thank You Haz

I had a similar noise but it was a plastic creeking type noise.
Do you have the plastic hubcaps?
The reason why I am asking is because I heard this similar noise and it was just the hubcaps creeking as the wheels turned.

Just a thought, maybe too obvious -- but are you certain the jack/spare tire assembly is tightly secured? May have loosened up over time?

I had a rattle, clunk noise and my mechanic found that the pins for the caliper were worn and allowing the caliper to move around. Once he replaced them no more noise, and it cost $70.
