    Uhh ohhh...tick...tick...tick

So I am driving home from Louisiana, normal driving nothing too hard except to pass some semis. I get back to Houston and get out of the car and hear tick tick tick tick. I get in and push the gas and it speeds up with the engine. I think it might be a lifter What should I do? I dont know if its under warranty because its at 49,000 miles and I think I bought an extended warranty but im not sure. Do the 2006 have the 70,000 powertrain warranty? Crap this is not a good thing to come home to after being offshore.

This isnt a little tick. I can hear it over everything else. I was next to a wall and it was really loud. Kind of has me worried, think I might take it to the dealer today.

I would take it in right away.
If you have the 3.5, check to see if the recall work was performed....sand in the main bearing i think?

I never received any notice of a recall for sand in the main bearing. Is this just recent?

My buddy's daytona does the same thing.....always has. He's taken it to the dealer twice and they say nothings wrong. At least you should let them listen to it.

BTW, mine ticks too......I think it's the FRI cam, 6.1 lifters, and longtubes!

2006 had the 3/36 powertrain warranty, sorry

If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?

Do you have the 3.5L? Here is my said tale. I developed a louder than normal ticking coming from the left side. Not your typical lifter tick. Louder. Annoying. So, the dealer started by changing out all of the lifters
on the left bank of the engine. All 12 of them 'cause it was to hard to isolate which one was making the noise. But, no change. After calling around to some of the DCX regional big shots, one said this has happened before. So they changed out the left side rocker arm shaft. That was it.
No noise. This was last October, with 24,000 miles on the car. Since then, my service advisor has seen a couple more come in. Same thing.
If you need more info off of my customer sheet I can give it to you. The noise was coming from underneath the left valve cover.

Well I took it to get the oil changed and now it sounds normal again. I did go about 4500 miles but it was on mobil 1 synthetic so I thought it would be fine. Apparently not, guess I wont be doing that again. Must have been making noise due to the oil and the temperature of driving at 80mph for 400 miles? Im not sure. Guess if it comes back I will be taking it to the dealer.
