    SXT suspension

I really think my SXT needs an improvement in the handling department. I plan on going to 18" rims and wheels and putting some sways on, but my question is: Has anyone upgraded thier SXT to the R/T shocks/struts as well? If so, what is required? Are the struts and springs different in the R/T or is it just the struts? How is the ride? I don't want too stiff a ride. I was just going to change the wheels and put on sways, but now I'm afraid it might not improve the handling enough unless I go to the stiffer struts as well. I had an Intrepid SE, and it cornered wayyy better than my Magnum. That had 225/16's on it. I don't understand why they went with a 17" rim on the SE and SXT but a thinner tire (215) with a vehicle that is taller and heavier than the LH's. I'm tired of taking a corner and having my stuff on my passenger seat go flying of the seat.

Well, If I'm going to do this, I may as well do the whole shot. The springs, struts, sways, and brakes and wheels of the R/T. I'll have to see how much I can do myself and what I will have to have the dealer install. I know if the dealer does everything, it will be big bucks. I would just trade up to an R/T, but I would lose 3k on my trade in right off the bat.

I wouldnt bother with the R/T suspension. Just do the SRT suspention and the R/T / SRT sways (they are the same).

What is the difference between the SRT and the R/T suspension? I just want my Magnum to handle better in the corners, not really trying to turn it into some sportscar. I think the R/T set up would be fine. Now do all the SRT's come with the dual brake calipers, or is that an option? About how much $$$ we talking here for the suspension/brakes? 3k, or more like 5k?

Before my magnum i drove a 2001 Intrepid R/T handled like a dream compared to SXT maggie. I have noticed the bushings in sway and suspension parts are a soft rubber looks like just upgrading those would help getting around the corners. I haven't changed them but that is the first thing im going to do when i get the scratch.

Mod list: Air silencer removal;K&N air filter; Custom Grill; Chroma shield Color Reflective Windshield, Weather Tech vent visors, Charger R/T wheels, Tinted windows. More coming soon to a theather near you.

KW coilovers improved my Magnum's ride, stance, and handling. Lots of $$$, but worth it.

My Charger SXT is lacking a rear sway, and by others' accounts it's not worth upgrading with Mopar sways when Hotchkis has a kit available.

I am of the opinion that sways are my biggest priority, but if you already have a rear sway then you might be in a different boat (or LX that is ).

I was thinking of lowering my Magnum also....it would probably save some gas on the highway (lower=less wind resistance) but I know some members have lowered thiers and it threw the alignment off pretty bad. Well, as I said, money won't be an issue, it's more like a question of time. I will probably start doing the mods in a month or 2 and would like to see it done in a month if possible. It will be a tight schedule to get it done before the summer is over.

i lowered my mag with goldline springs last summer, and never had an alignment. my tires are wearing normal. i have a small right pull, but i had that before i ever lowered it. the ride isnt horrible either! ive always driven lowered cars, so i dont care about the stiff ride. takes corners nicely, and looks sooo much better!! the install was cake as well. my roomate and i lowered the car in less than 4hrs in our driveway. probably the easiest lowering job ive ever done. easier than my ford focus! i picked up the springs used from a member on here. they lowered the car 1.5. perfect. its low, you can tell and fell its lowered, but your just a smidddge taller than a parking curb. its nice!

Lowering these big-ass cars definitely makes a huge difference in handling.

I think my Magnum handles pretty good but I think it was lowering just the front that helped the most. I do have the RT 18" wheel and BFG 155/55 tires.

I have been wanting to put the RT rear sway on but have yet to get anyone to send it. 2 different people said to pay shipping and I agreed but never got an email to send to or the amount.
Tinted glass, Cut front springs 1 1/4",
AirHammer HO, Duel Flowmaster 40s, De-molded,
Sonar LED Tails, Flat black honeycomb grille,
18" RT wheels & 245/45, No ESP Mod, Predator,
Innovate WB A/F guage, Ported Lower Intake.
