I installed the Blastin Bob's system last night. I bought the Y pipe kit with the small dual glass pack resonators. This is not a straight pipe kit. The other resonated kit he offers is the one with two Magnaflows.
I did take pix and video - but I'll have to upload that another time. (I'm at work without my camera).
First off - I ordered the system on a Thursday and it arrived the next Wednesday (ground coast-to-coast) which is pretty quick!
Second - everything was packed incredibly well. The tips were bubble wrapped and fitted into a special box to hold everything from banging around during shipping. All the bits and pieces were in a ziplock bag with clear instructions with pix (and a free sticker!).
Third - the quality was outstanding. The pipes were bent perfectly and cleanly finished in black. The hardware was high quality - and the bolts for the second pipe were the EXACT same bolts the factory used on the other side.
Fourth - The installation went pretty well. I had to use a file to de-burr and clean the edges where the Y pipe attached to my existing system. Once that was done, all the pipes slipped together perfectly. The one issue I had was the driver's side back mount (next to the tip). The metal that fits into the rubber mount was bent very close to the pipe. I had to install that rubber mount off the car and with a great deal of force. This was because the rubber section between the hole and the outside edge of the rubber had to be compressed to get on the bracket. Also, despite that hanger being tighter to the pipe, that tip hangs ever so slightly lower than the passenger side. Only the most critical eye will notice this IMO.
Fifth - The whole installation took 2 hours including the time it took me to cut my pipe with a hacksaw and struggling with that one rubber mount. The tips protrude just a tad farther out than the stock one, and are about 1/4" larger - exactly what I was looking for.
Finally the sound - On start up it is louder than it was before. Inside the car you can hear the difference. Warmed up, at idle it sounds almost the same but a little deeper. On the road there are a few RPM spots that are clearly more audible in the cabin. 1,500 RPM seems to one of the louder ones, but it isn't overly loud. 2,000 RPM (highway cruising) gives a slight increase in volume than before, and accelerations are definitely more audible. Pretty much exactly as advertised!
All in all - a great system. Well built, priced, shipped, and designed. It is early still, so I'll have to see how it is over time, but for now it does give me a bit more volume than I expected, but I don't think it is annoying or overly loud. And that is very important to me. I don't want to annoy my neighbors!
