    Resonator Delete

I tried to find any posts where people have dropped the resonator off the back and left the stock muffler on then added a double walled tip or something along that line, but cant find anything, except where people changed the stock muffler out. I plan on doing this myself but was curious as to the sound of the stock muffler w/o the resonator on. I plan on pulling the resonator off and using a good looking tip to bring it out the back. If anybody has any thoughts or comments lets hear them.

O.k. since nobody has any thoughts on this I guess I'll have to do alittle trial and error to see what it sounds like. When I get it all set up I'll take some clips and post them to show the sound

Are you serious that you couldn't find anything?

Try doing a search on Blastin' Bob and you will get a lot of onfo on this mod. This was one of the first things I did. Along with a CAI it gives the Hemi an awesome sound at WOT! Bob has lot of sound clips and pics on his website. He is alss a great vendor. Great prices, fast shipping, very simple install.

Not sure about the V-6's, but on the V-8's you will get drone without some type of resonator. Been there, done that!

Removing the resonator was one of the 1st things I did when I picked up my magnum. Went with a 4" rolled edge SS tip. (if you accidentally scrape a chrome tip, your screwed.) I absolutely love the sound. I have a vid clip of it floating around here somewhere: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=92417 2302&n=2 Since there are no high flow cats or header options, even with a catback system you are not truely high flow, but have moreso a good tone. I love the tone with this option & until the other criterea are available, this is a more sensible option for me.

gameboy, how loud is the exhaust in the car? It sounds real good, but worried about the loudness of it inside. I like to hear my music and not have the wife complain about the annoying exhaust. any input would be great.
The mod List is getting to the point that its just to long to post. So if you wanna know whats in it, just ask?

Jay, there is definately a noticeable difference inside the car but it doesn't seem bad at all to me. However, I too must deal with the wife But she like the sound also & my 10 month old son has no problems sleeping even when I'm WOT. (which is when it REALLY sounds good!) You can always tweak the sound with different configurations of mufflers or glasspacks. but once I drove it without the resonator, I knew I had the sound I was looking for.

I first removed the Rez and drove that way for a week. It was ok but a little annoying. I then put on an aftermarket muffler that is similar to the Series 50 from Flowmaster. That was kinda mean and tuff sounding, but SUPER DUPER annoying with a drone on the highway. If anyone says it's not, it is and my hearing isn't spectacular anymore.

I finally had my resonator PUT BACK ON and left the aftermarket muffler. I like it just fine now on my 2.7.

Removing the rez will create highway drone that can be very very annoying. If the word is Blastin Bob's is the way to go without the drone. Then I'd think seriously you should look into it.

H2o, have you tried the Delta 50 series flowmaster? Much less aggressive than the old standard 50. i mentioned earlier that the sound can be tweaked by adding the right muffler/glasspack. This should be done at the location where your resonator is/was. you should be able to give your exhaust guy an idea of what tone your looking for & they are worth their salt, they should be able to recommend a good setup. Remember, the 2.7 produces a different sound entirely than the 3.5L & thus the solution may be different. To those still on the fence, I know there are many more 3.5ers on this forum who have removed the resonator, maybe one in your area. i would try to meet up with someone locally & give it a listen inside & out.

i have an 3.5 and put the blastin bob resonator delete kit on right away...the drone is there and it is a little excessive. It sounds great WOT and cruising on the highway but from 0-40 mph during normal acceleration it drones.

That being said, the wife hated it at first...really hated it. Funny thing is that 18k miles later, she actually likes it. It gives the car personallity.

It is a nice priced kit and fits perfectly. The 4" SS tip looks great without being tacky. It is a love/hate relationship i guess...more love than hate.

We'll right now I've got TRUE duals with glasspacks on my truck (5.9L gas). So I don't think my wife would mind the drone that much, but, I agree with the tweaking of the combination. Maybe a glass pack after the stock muffler or even change the stock muffler to an Edlebrock SDT as a last resort. Thanks for all the input!
