Cam/Crank sensors are an easy, and pretty cheap fix. They are a common failure on that engine:

    Cam Sensor

    To Remove:

    1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
    2. Remove air cleaner box.
    3. Disconnect electrical connections to the camshaft sensor.
    4. Remove the mounting bolts.
    5. Remove camshaft sensor.

    To Install:

    1. Install camshaft sensor.
    2. Install mounting bolts.
    3. Install camshaft sensor electrical connection.
    4. Install air cleaner box.
    5. Connect negative battery cable.

    Crank Sensor

The crankshaft sensor is located on the drivers side of the vehicle, above the differential housing. The bottom of the sensor sits above the drive plate.
    To Remove:

    1. Disconnect battery cables.
    2. Remove the battery
    3. Disconnect electrical connections to the crankshaft sensor.
    4. Remove the mounting screw.
    5. Remove crankshaft sensor.

    To Install:

    1. Install crankshaft sensor and push down until contact is made with transmission case. While holding the sensor in position, install and tighten the retaining bolt to 105 in. lbs..
    2. Install crankhaft sensor electrical connection.
    3. Install air battery.
    4. Connect battery cables.

    Hope this helps!
