    performance loss ??

hey guys my buddy of mine who has a charger 3.5 is thinking about gettin those big ol 24" rims on his charger i told him it would definitly effect his performance cause of the weight on them things but he said 22" rims (which he is also considering) would almost be the same as the 24's performance wise what you think about this

If the overall tire diameter does not change, there would be no measurable performance difference. The total weight increase, if any, above the stock rims would be a factor, but not really significant.

This concept was actually tested at one of the GIFO's. There are many SOTP dynos that disagree.

same but still slower, the mass of the wheel is moved further to the outside of the total rotating diameter.

same as going from 17';s to a 20. theres gonna be some loss. but if you buy that big of a wheel, you guys arent exactly gonna be in it for performance handling and stuff, so its more a drive slow to moderate thing, right?

distance from the center of the wheel to the mass counts more than the difference in mass (which will also be greater because it's just plain larger). 24's will be worse than 22's. He's driving a 3.5..... no disrespect intended, but i can't imagine he's hell-bent on performance anyway.
