Open v6 rant to the vendors

ok so we bought the v6 for a variety of reason but what gives with the aftermarket businesses? Seems like Volant couldn't care less, Superchips has no intention, headers?...please! Seems we are left with questionable Jet chips and a slowly expanding variety of exhausts. If the V6 is even 40% of the LX market (i'm sure its higher) why not give us some toys? Or maybe you don't care to make a profit.

i hate to tell you guys, but this is true in ALL v8 markets. takes a couple years for the V6 aftermarket to catchup to the V8 stuff, for the same car. the answer is simple- people buy v8s for the performance, and v6s for the economy. what other reason? using that logic, more people with V8s will want performance stuff than ones with v6s. obviously they are going to start selling to the large market first.

thats not to say they wont start making v6 stuff, but it will take time. i used to own a v6 camaro...man there was nothing available for it. now theres quite a large v6 following with aftermarket parts. so...give it time.

Mine did 15.8 sec. at 88.6 mph at the track. Stock. But yes, it would be great to go faster. The 3.5L was barely straining for the run.

I do agree it will take time, but I don't agree with your reason for people purchasing the V6. For most of us, it wasn't fuel economy...but overall price of the vehicle with incentives, insurance, wife factor, and availability (for me AWD 2005 RT wasn't available...and the 2006 AWD RT wouldn't have receive the dealership discounts I was offered).

So, I know I should have bought a RT, but many things got in the way of purchasing one at that time. However, the V6 (3.5L at least) is advertised as High Output. Although it does perform well, I would like a bit more responsiveness from this vehicle. To wit; the throttle lag is terrible and luckily for the RT community, they will receive something to fix that issue. Yet the V6 community is left unassisted.

We all have our reasons for purchasing the V6...it wasn't only because of Economy.

Prowler has same engine and was pushing 400 HP. We can harness more power from our engines. Be patient, mods will come.

I know the definition of "economy", but your statement implied your use of the word "economy" was related to people choosing the V6 because they didn't want performance. Since you clarified, it is true we chose the V6 over the V8 due to "economic" reasons; however, we did not do so because we wanted less performance.

With that said, I don't expect the same power output as the V8. I do concede and accept I have a V6 with less power than the Hemi, no argument there. Yet, even both camps agree that our engines aren't providing the optimal power output we expect, especially with after market parts. The Hemi camp is receiving the support to correct this problem. Therefore the V6 camp would like this same opportunity. I know people are stating that the there isn't much interest from the V6 community, but I don't believe that is entirely true. I think that the Hemi crowd is just more vocal, and rightfully so.

It seems that the V6 camp is less than vocal (than the Hemi camp) in expressing their interest. Yet a quick search in this forum alone displays many V6 owners modding their vehicles and wanting to optimize their vehicle. Maybe we aren't as vocal about flashpaqs and equipment because some feel that the gains isn't worth the grass roots effort. The way I see it is:

    1. Hemi camp rallied and loudly cried out for support, and got it

    2. V6 crowd is silently chanting "build it and we will come"

Reason I got my SXT, was because it was the only one on the lot and it was used. And I don't regret it one little bit. Love this car, and with enough mods, it'll be fast enough and powerful enough for me for the next 3-5 years. :>
