My SXT Mag vs SE Mag

SO I was on my way home from work yesterday and pretty much the whole way I am next to a Black Mag. I knew it was an SE due to the lack of fog's and the hubcap's. So after driving through some light traffic we end up next to each other at a light with no traffic ahead. It was funny because he actually was pretty far ahead of me and as he approached the light he kept hitting the brake's with no one in front of me. So I knew he wanted to wait for me. This made me think of that thread we had going not too long ago asking if it was that much of a difference in power.

So the light turns green and I was in 1st gear. I pulled off normally just in case he wasn't game but he punched it. I heard the hiss coming from his muffler so I punched it myself. By this time he had a car on me. As soon as I floored it I reeled him in pretty easily and pulled pretty nasty on him. We ended up at another light but he didn't want anymore of me after that.

So to answer that thread, there is a big difference from the 2.7 to the 3.5.

Ohj yeah, and before that on the highway I had a friendly race with a guy in my class with hias Charger RT. It was from a 50mph roll. Of course he pulled on me but not as bad as I did to the 2.7. I thought the RT would have raped me more. I even saw smoke coming out of his exhaust so I know he was hitting it...

That is very interesting. I'm curious as to how the awd sxt charger would stack up to my 3.5 se with rwd. Has anyone tried this?

    3.5L SE :

17"SGT aluminum alloy wheels, spectre cai, esp delete, custom dual borla catback exhaust, tint (35% up front and as dark as they get in back!)

SE's for the Chargers can come with either a 2.7 or 3.5.

I can't believe that there is THAT much of a difference between the 2.7 and 3.5 that he could be a car length's ahead of you with the peddle to the floor and you can pull "nasty" on em. Not callin' you a liar or nothin. Just sayin' it's very hard to believe, especially after messin' with a few 3.5's myself.

Well with these cars ya never know... Could be the SE driver hasn't been romping on the car lately, and the adaptive performance system has tuned down his car's performance... Jimbo on the other hand probably always floor's the sunovab!tch, thus his cars performance stays aggressive more consistently... That coupled with the SXT extra power could certainly make for a big difference. For that matter, my SXT on a good day would pull pretty hard against my SXT on a bad day!

Jimmy stop beating up on the little guys

My undertanding when looking into buying a Charger... SE comes with the 3.5 and not the 2.7.... 2.7 only available in the Mag SE and maybe 300

SE charger is trim level reference only and it's absolute basic

Oh actually about the whole racing my friend in the RT thing, I don't want to make a mistake so I'm not going to assume he had it floored because I wasn't in the car with him and I didn't speak to him afterwards so I'll ask him the next time. Chances are he wasn't lol. He was proabably just giving it a little extra gas.

As for the SE, he had 1 car length on me. But I pretty much walked him and I'm sure of that. I do have a heavy foot so my car along with it's Jet chip II and Exhaust Depot Exhaust react nicely to it.

It's not an apples to apples compairson when you compare hp between the 3.5 and the 5.7. The 3.5L Magnum is 500lbs lighter than the R/T Magnum.

I was side by side with a SXT RWD Magnum and it wasn't even close. I pulled easily away from him. But he sounded stock, and I have intake/exhaust/electronics in my car. The extra weight of my AWD didn't make any difference at all.
