So I told you all I would give you my impression about the Jetchip Stage 1 for the 3.5L I bought and added to my ride...
Before installing it I was getting on average 15-16 mpg based on my daily drive and how I drive (gas it once in a while, but generally a normal driver)
Well the immediate impression was that it definately felt like it changed the way it shifted... not really a "bad" feeling just different... I was on the highway and I was stuck behind someone that was not going with the flow of traffic, so I waited for an oepening in the lane next to me and goosed it... The car didn't react like it did before... usually, it would just drop down a gear quickly and shoot me around... Now with the chip, it kept it in the same gear for a few seconds trying to put it harder in that gear, then it finally decided it wanted to go down a gear to be able to pick up faster...
I'm not totally sure if this is a good or a bad thing so I just kinda ignored it...
The 1st tank after I put it on I averaged about 17.5 mpg (I do approx 50 miles a day round trip for work) It should be 1/2 highway, 1/2 city but there are days where it is almost all stop and go my whole trip home, and some days where I hit nothing...
The next 2 tanks I only got just over 15 mpg... I didn't drive differently or anything, the weather was pretty consistent temperatues...
I am thinking that the "smart car" aspect is taking over and learning how I drive instead of letting the Chip affect it
To test this theory, I decided to pull the power for about 15 min then reattach the battery lead... If I end up getting higher mpg this next tank, I am going to have to figure out some sort of better way then constantly pulling the cable (or teh fuse) each time I fill up...
Anyone else have similar results or an I just nuts?
