    Interested in a Turbo kit?

Hey all, I'm just going to cut and paste a response I made in the V8 forum, so you are aware that we are working on your vehicles as well

    Hi everyone,

Wanted to wish you all a happy new year, and give a brief but somewhat descriptive update on how YOUR turbo kit is coming along. I've recieved a number of emails from quite a few LXV8 owners, and I certainly appreciate your support in our newest platform turbo kit. I can't tell you how excited we at Cartuning Performance are about the product.

The prototype vehicle is just about done mechanically, with simple IC plumbing left before final startup. Unlike our W body kits (www.cartuning.ca) we will have no options available to chose from. 1 Turbo, Fully ceramic coated kit, IC included, all injectors, tuning, etc. Without going into too many details, we've decided on a single turbo to allow for AWD compatibility with the turbo mounted below the motor, on the Drivers side. It sits quite high, has mechanical protection from hitting speedbumps, and will be tested on a car lowered 2" just to be sure. Tuning is handled via piggy-back system and should be quite flawless. All in all, we have only positive outlook for this product as we work full-steam ahead. Expected is a product that YOU can install on your own in under 6 hrs with basic handtools. Expected is a 10psi kit that will make in excess of 450whp on a stock motor for around $5500. You should expect quality no less then shown in our W body kits, using only stainless materials, the highest quality of cutting, bending, fabrication on the market today.

Just as exciting is that we are working on a V6 (3.5) kit to be ready around the same time, with similar results expected (400whp) at a similar price point, and installation ease. Both kits are designed to work with stock manifolds only, as they will support enough hp to keep you in a permanent smile. Both kits are designed to be removed as easily as they are installed with nothing on the car left cut, destroyed, or unusable (that should even include factory wires and harnesses).

All the best for the new year,

    Kevin Margitta

I'm guessing that's in Loonies and Twonies though! Whatever the conversion is, still a tad expensive but not 5k crazy. I sure hope it ain't 5k greenbacks!

IMO a kit like this should be somewhere in the $2500 range. I am glad to see that somebody is taking the step though. Build it right and price it accordingly and if it proves to be a dependable unit I will be all over it.

Guys, your getting a fully pretuned kit, with fueling taken car of. I'm not a fan of turbo kits, nor of piggybacks, but that said, 2500 dollar kits usually come with the turbo and piping, fuel is left up to you. Injectors, computer to control same, and the biggie, dyno time and expertise to setup the programming to keep your motor blowing.

That stuff aint cheap. Wheres the lady who was saying cartuning was going to be the one who had a crack for the PCM? Looks like that was not accurate.

I'd be all over that in a heartbeart - but life has tossed a little twist at me and it's getting real close to deciding if I want a place to live, or my RT (sound of belt tightening).

I'll let y'all be the early adopters and see how it works out - maybe next year...(sigh).

They are right close to me as well, but I just don't have that kind of cash kicking around. Could swing 3k.. but 5.5k is out of reach for a while..

Maybe in a year or so... Would love to see some dyno results from this though.. :-)

The GSM S/C kit for the Hemi's is $5400. Why would you expect a Turbo kit to be cheaper??

Ciao Baby... It was a pleasure while I owned you.

because turbo kits are usually cheaper on average. probably because the actual spool itself is cheaper.

would the kit include both manifolds or just the one the turbo is mounted to?
    what type of turbo?
what piggyback unit would be included?
any plans for a smaller kit? maybe something for those of us who would like a quicker spool up time and less psi?

this would be related to what turbocharger is used but how will the lag be? also, is there anyway to do a twin turbo kit to eliminate the lag? i really want that low end kick

and the sts kit for f-bodies are $3,900+$500tune+$350injectors. still ends up being almost 1000 bucks cheaper!

gsm also sells a "box of wires" for 200 bucks too. sc are a bit more costly to produce.

im not dogging the product as it seems like it will be top quality. i just have a hard time justifying AND finding $5,500 bucks, as im sure others are.

that is assuming its US currency, which im sure it is.
