    Hey guys question about wheels

I used to be known as Magnum05 on here but I just recently changed it.

Anyways I work for Dodge, and I am wanting to put 22's on my 2.7L and I was wondering if any of you guys have done it. I heard it scrubs bad but then people say it doesn't that bad. I also heard which I know is true that since the wheels are so heavy and that since I have a lil v6 thats its going to move pretty slowly....I have asked my techs these questions but I just want to ask anyone who actually has 22's on their magnum. Also does it hurt the engine driving with such heavy wheels?

If you get the right size, you're not going to rub. I have 22" wheels with a 9.5 backspacing along with 265/35/22 tires. I have no rubbing issues at all and am at stock ride height. They bolted right on.

If you get 22" wheels you WILL be slowed down. First, because the wheel is bigger and heavier.....Second because you will have to avoid potholes

Well thank you. I am so in love with these wheels. They are the TIS 01 so damn hot. I gotta check the offset of the wheels though and see what I can do. I hope everything works out. I know it will slow the maggie down hahaha probably a lot. Oh well I think its so worth it.

    I have TIS 07's (+14mm offset)
If I have no rub with the same brand of wheel I seriously doubt you would have any

Go to http://twentyinchesstrong.com, click gallery, then click picture 16. Those are 22" TIS 01's on a black mag.

I priced a set of TIS 01's on pirelli p-zero tires, $1800 for the rims and $1000 for tires. $2800 mounted balanced and put on my car. Still thinking but not sure yet. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

ya that deal is for 22's. From what i have seen and heard that is a really good deal, it's just right now i've been working on the audio, video setup in the car and it being the holidays, plus going to jamaica in january it's not likely to happen for a bit. But due time they will come.

I'm sorry guy's I just can't come to spend $2,000 to $3,000 for a set of tires and wheels for a street daily driver, show car yes. Besides the tires don't have a long tread life from what I have seen, and the same is true about the rims becaused they are so easy damaged. I hated to pay almost $200 each for the 215/60/17 Michelin HydroEdge I bought for the car.

For my SE I spent the first 6 months trying to find 17" OEM alloys for the SE and finally gave up, I thought there had not many if any 17" alloy wheels installed from factory. But guess what, I found them today. Local shop got them on trade off a Magnum SXT and I got them (4) mounted & balanced with crome valve stems, and nitrogen filled for $200 plus tax total.

I was just thinking that $3,000 will buy a 60" DLP TV and nice SS system, or back in the day braces on the kid.

Let's see I have bought 1 new Ford PU truck, at least 5 new cars for less then that fellows. Damn I must be getting old. However one of the guys ask me today at local Dodge dealership ask me how old I was, he honestly thought I was 51 or 52 instead of 60 charging hard to 61.
What were we talking about guys???

    Vanillamaggie,
Something you're going to hear a lot on these forums is about the added weight of the wheels and how it'll negatively affect performance. It's nonsense. The improved roadhandling, braking, acceleration and steering response are more than worth it!

The added weight, if there's any at all, comes with cast wheels. It'll average about an additional 10 lbs. per wheel, which is nothing. What often is overlooked is that the stock tire may weigh more than the aftermarket tire, which offsets the additional weight.

The correct range of offset is anywhere from 10-24mm. The TIS wheels are all 18mm offset, while most other brands are 15mm. The Foose wheels are 12.5mm.

All of these wheels with these offsets will not rub with a 265/35-22 size tire! A 295mm, 305mm or 315mm size tire will fit on the rear with the right offset as well without rubbing!

As for pricing, you can easily find TIS wheels on ebay for about $1650 a set for non-blems.

As for the total expense $2000 to $3000 is pocket change in my book and well worth it.

    Pocket change???

Other then that, vanillaRT4me is quite correct about what he said. The only thing you screw up is speedometer & odometer readings if you don't keep to same overall height (there are at least 3 or 4 hight choices for the STARSCAN) of OEM tires. That and you will suffer a slight MPG loss (1 to 3 mpg hwy) from the increased rolling friction & air resistance of the wider tire. That said most people I know that has done what you want to do generally seem to be a little easier on their driving habits and suffer no loss fuel economy.

You're right. Maybe, I went a bit too far with that one...
