    Hammer HO experiences

I was curious if anyone else had increased fuel economy after installing the HO.

I have kept up with my mpg since my purchase on May 13th of this year.

    2005 3.5l Magnum stock.

    Miles ....Gallons .... MPG
    217 ----------14 ----------15.5
    261 ----------15.5 --------16.8
    280 ----------16 ---------- 17.5
    277 ----------16 ---------- 17.3
    256 ----------16 ---------- 16
    324 ----------17.5 --------18.5*
    220 ----------14 -----------15.7
    362 ----------21 -----------17.2**
    252 ----------15 -----------16.8
    352 ----------17.5 ---------20.1***
    269 ----------14 -----------19.2
    * 95 Miles of extra highway driving.
** Added 4 gallons during the refill cycle.
    *** Installed Airhammer HO

My travel is pretty routine mostly in town traffic with only about 50 miles of open highway travel a fill up. End of July I took a extended trip up to the lake and the open travel time got me my highest MPG. End of August title and tags came due so I had to add a few gallons during the week to stretch the tank out till payday, for those that would ask about the 21 gallon tank. On the 22nd of September I installed the HO and my MPG spiked quite nicely, up from 16.8 average to a 19.6 average. This is with no change in my daily driving patterns as far as city to highway mileage. I have driven more since the install, it is college football season and going here to there to watch games has increased my miles.

The install was quick and painless, especially since my air sensor did not put up much fight at all. Grand total of about 35 minutes start to finish to install.

As for power gains I really cant say for sure, as I have no access to a dyno machine. The car feels more powerful and surely sounds more powerful. I have been able to get the back tires to "break loose" and give a chirp on some takeoffs which had never occured before installation of the HO.

Edited due to chart malfunctions!!!! That should be more legible.

I'll have to take a look. I log my mileage and gas consumption at every fill up, but I haven't plotted any of the data in a couple of months. I suspect that the first couple of weeks after I installed it the mileage went down because I was having too much fun with the go-go pedel.

I'll get the book out of the car at lunch and see what it says.

that mileage seems low for a 3.5. I have and awd 05 magnum and havent got lower than 20 mpg with a stock air box. I even went on a 4 hour trip and got 27.5 mpg.

I don't pay attention to gas mileage anymore. I rarely fill up all the way and I don't drive it in a gas saving mannor.

With my 79 GMC getting no better than 9mpg, the entire LX platform looks downright frugal!!!!

I can't say that there is a marked improvement in gas mileage since I installed the HO. The 3 fill-ups I have had since I installed it were between 18.0 to 18.7 mpg. My lifetime average pre-hammer was 19.5 mpg, but that is somewhat misleading. There are a lot of 15.5 mpg tanks where I was having a little too much fun and a few in the low 20's on the highway. Given that I drove the crap out of the car the first week and still got 18mpg might be a claim to an increase, but it is too early to tell.

For what it is worth, the highest I have ever recorded was 22.7 mpg. that would have been primarily 75mph interstate driving.

It would be interesting to try it on the turnpike with cruise control set on 65. My RT gets 25.5 mpg if I do that. My hemi Ram gets excellent mileage if I set the cruise at 64 mph or a bit less. I got 19.8 mpg on a trip from New Jersey to Maine setting cruise between 60 and 64 mph. Pretty good in a vehicle that Consumer Reports said only got 8mpg.

I haven't tried it with the magnum, but there was a big difference in mileage with my last car between 65mph and 75 mph on the interstate. Of course, that was a PT Cruiser which was terribly underpowered and as aerodynamic as a bathtub.

Now that the local interstate speed limits are 70, I can't bring myself to drive 65 anymore. I'll usually hover between 70 and 75.

I seem to get my best mileage at about 70mph. That is with the stock intake however. I just got word, my Hammer HO showed up today, and here I am 1000 miles away! GRRR

WOW!! That is great! I knew that the mileage wouldnt go down, only up.
Its hard to gauge just how good the up can be with so many different driving styles and conditions.
I am very proud of this even If I usually drive like my tail is on fire!
    Good going TTMR!

I havent had a MPG under 20 in the last year with stock air cleaner and FM50 muffler. And I romp on it all the time.

I use my dashhawk to read the tank level (shut off as it hits 104%), same gas station and same pump every time. $2.64 on base right now. I just did a 200 mile round-trip from Cheyenne to Estes Park, CO. 85 on interestate and about 30 miles (some of the most gorgeous driving) going from 6062ft to 7522ft elevation and back and got 27 mpg with the new/used AirRaid setup.

Can't wait to get my AH HO and report back on this! Right now with a lot of highway driving I am getting 21 mpg (us), 26.7 (cdn) or 10.75l/100km....I find the gas mileage is great so far, and if it improves under my lead foot, then so much the better!
