FactoryD 3.5L Dyno shootout (crazy results)

Factory D has now completed the 3.5L Intake shoot out today and we are giving the results.

This car HAS NO upgrades, not even a JET CHIP (we got the wrong one from JET!) So we have to retry the runs Friday with chip on car and compare.
The only mods on this car is 22" wheels which again show you how much you kill off the botton line when added...

As you can see the Air Fuel mixture at stock is great

Take off the filter and it nose dives and the fuel mix nose dives

Put on the aftermarkets and it drops UP TO 30HPS! This is because they are flowing that much better than stock!!!

Again further proof you M U S T upgrade your ECU before expecting any gains with an intake. Stock fuel/air settings cannot accomodate this much airflow from these systems...regardless of brand.

Our Twin system sounded the meanest but was one of the worst in losses.
We think that Friday will show you the ones that lose the most STOCK ECU will be the ones that GAIN the most with the JET added back!

I hope us being honest here shows you guys even more proof that any intake maker that says JUST the intake alone will gain you power is lying.

I wish it wasn't the case but the chip upgrade is there to help you enjoy every part you want...and without it you are FUBAR!

So after talking to AEM Weapon-R and a rep at K&N

They all agreed that the AF ratios drop terribly when air flow exceeds OEM settings.
AEM said the worst performer WILL be the best performer with a Chip that controls the higher required mixtures... he didn't know his was not going to be that winner!

So right now Weapon-R will be a huge gain IF the jetchip experiment works!

Jet said stage 1 to get the stats back (stage one is for basic mods) to cure AF ratios and other points that OEM cannot compensate for.

is there anyway you can try it with a stage 2 and 91/93 octane also? thanks. those results are pretty interesting. What did the k&n guy say? Because on their site they show a gain of 11hp for the aircharger.

Oh and this is the one that with a JETCHIP dyno'd at 14.3 in Cali -- ETA is about 15 -30 days for us stocking it. It creates the most air flow off all styles tested

3.5" D pipe, Weapon-R patented high flow foam filter, heat shield and etc.

You are certainly to be commended for posting these dyno runs. We look forward to your next set and more good data from reliable vendors.

On your K&N guy ?. He said they gained without a chip TO HIS KNOWLEDGE. However, not one intake produces HP without the help of ECU upgrade... it's impossible other wise we'd be saying OUR intake did too... (ours came closest to OEM power vs K&N and Weapon-R) However, airflow stats show that the WR was the best flow and there for messed up the mixture the most...

Anyone who says they get HP with only an intake frankly is lying or doesn't know their info.

    That is one badass-looking component.

All it needs now is some pastel coloring. Maybe some flowers?

    just kidding

You guys should do something for the 5.7's. Seriously I like the look of that thing. Once we open up these babies with an S/C tuner we'll need guys like you to figure out whats best. If that means cobbling together something from different sources, thats fine with me.

I also concur that you are to be commended for the dynos, and you honesty of results. I don't know much but would not the exhaust also have an impact on the gains. I mean more air in is great but it needs to exhale that stuff too!

exactly paradog! The exhaust, manifolds, high flow cats etc.

We want to show gains (or losses in this case) with the minimum since most are just getting started. That way they don't have to wade through 2,000.00 worth of parts to see our posted results!

New test coming.......Monday at 10 am (2 new proto pipes)

I'm really interested in the results. The mods I have are:

    1. CAI

    2. JET Stage II

    3. Low restriction Magnaflow exhaust (with stock resonator still attached)

The folks at High Horse Performance did state I would need a low or free flowing system to receive gains with the Jet chip and I want to make sure I get optimal performance. If this means changing any of the intake and exhaust components, then so be it. So my interest in your test results with the JET Chip installed is very high.

BTW, thanks for doing this for us...this means alot to us 3.5L folks.

I am also waiting the results. I have CAI and exhaust but no chip. I will be looking at those numbers before I get the stage 2. Are there any reasons why the gains were so different for the 2.7? Was this ESP coming into play since the 2.7 didn't (I think ) have it. Did you pull fuse 17? Looks like same type of results with 5.7 and GIFO.
