    Question Error Codes?

I've been getting the check engine light lately, and just havent' had the time to hit the dealership. Is there a way to get error codes on the SXT so I could maybe get an idea of what's going on? Or am I sol, and just have to wait until I get to the dealer?

    P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected

Is this life threatening, IE: should I go hit the dealer asap?

I would. Sounds like you may have a coil pack going bad or some other electrical problem. Could just be the computer detecting something that really isn't there. Let us know what you find.

So I brought the Beast in yesterday to my local dealership. Dodge of Hudson Valley up in Poughkeepsie. Richard in service was incredibly cool and pretty laid back. Watched the tech hook up the starscan and before he could hit anything told him it was cylinder 5 misfiring, probably from carbon buildup as per the TSB.

Hhehe. The look on his face was worth the price of admission. He asked if I worked in a dealership and when I explained I was one of those internet guys, he nodded knowingly. Nice guy also.

Long story short, they cleaned the heads and performed the tsb, and now the beast is back to new!!!

Going in thursday to install my fog lamps, since last night I had to go 20 mph in no traffic thanks to fog.

Wow. Someone who needs fog lights for actual fog.

Now get it over 3,000 rpm on a daily basis and you won't have a carbon problem again.

Thats the thing that's bugging me. I get to 3k rpm just getting out of the driveway. I remember reading about the carbon buildup way back when I first joined, but figured, "Naw, I blow past 3k all the time, no worries." Just goes to show what I know.

Only thing I can think of is, that since I moved, I'm doing a lot of highway driving, (50 miles each way to work), and once I'm up to cruising speed, for the most part I just stick it in 4th or 5th and cruise at 2k-2.5k rpm. That may have been the problem.

glad you got her fixed. long highway driving (50 miles each way) should prevent this from happening again. short trips in cold weather is the biggest contributor to this condition.
