    Engine Swaps and options???

Ok i originally bought a maggie for looks not really performance but now after months of owning a mag i want to put raw muscle under the hood! So my question is open to everyone with knowledge. What type of engine would work best in the magnum??? What would be the best engine swap?? Of course im going to hear srt8s man..which is kool but what about something with more muscle??? Like can i put a srt-10 engine in the magnum or a corvette engine? Whatelse I'm i going to have to change besides everything under the hood(suspension..etc)????? Please share some ideas..Thanks.

Something you need to keep in mind, is that everything in the car is run by a computer designed to run your car. If you go to something other than a Chrysler engine you are realling gutting the electronics of the car. I know that a 5.7-6.1 swap will work fine, but I don't know about the smaller engines to one of the Hemi's, maybe someone else can chime in. I do know that if you can put a 6.1 in and make it a stroker 426 you will have crazy performance. The other thing to remember is that these are full sized cars, not 2 seater sports cars waying 2/3 of what ours do. On stock tires you can expect to light them up at will with a 426, doesn't necessarily mean you'll be pulling 10 second quarter miles right away. Go for it though, and let us know the results.

A 5.7 swap you can do for almost under 12K,

That would be cleveland auto parts
So damn custom, I don't even need a sig!

If you don't care about how much it costs, you can do anything you want. Throwing in a 6.1 will cost you by the time your done around around 15-20 min. You will be changing everything there is to change to acomplish this. If you wanna toss in another manufactures motor/tranny, plan on gutting it and running with stand alone controls.

IMO, unless you poured thousands upon thousands of dollars into your body and paint. Ditch it and buy a SRT, it'll be muuuuuuuuuch cheaper with less headaches.

So you are thinking about a 3.5 to 5.7 swap. MOTOR18 did it on his Charger. To get the full low down you should PM him. He is here some but, your best bet to getting a response is to PM him over on CHARGERFORUM.COM. The final product turned out sweet but, he had some major problems getting HAL to agree with the transplant.

I would think it is cheaper to just trade up.

Almost all chrysler engines should bolt right up as long as you have the 5 speed tranny. If so it should bolt right up, I would go with the 426 stroker if price doesn't matter to you, and if you can wait a little bit, wait for the 440 stroker to come out. If you're really not looking for that much power you can just go with a 5.7l swap or a 6.1 swap.

Sorry bud, but that's a big NOPE. All the engine assc's, tranny, rear end, drive shaft, wiring harness, computers, fuel pumps, suspension, it goes on and on and on. Now a 5.7 to 6.1 is a slam dunk. I was the first guy to do it. But it stops there.

Suspension is a big, big, overlooked factor in the thought process of a motor swap, keep in mind our sxt's dont even have a rear sway bar....at least mine doesnt....I have R/T swaybars to go on soon, but i need the connecters that hold it in place.

Ummm...Thanks for the input from everyone. Im still in the debating process of which way i want to go. I have 4k miles till my warranty is up so after i hit 36k i'll either do a trade up to an srt8 or just do an engine swap. I know cleveland pick-a-part has the srt8 engine with 6k miles on it for 8g's so who knows.
