Benz SL65 AMG wanted to play...

I took a trip out for lunch today, and came alongside a brand new SL65 AMG with dealer plates. Being severely outgunned under the hood, me and my 3.5 wanted nothing to do with this... but the guy kept eggin me on, so I figured what the hell -- I'll play along as best I can, and hand him the bragging rights to beating a station wagon with a 100K+ sportscar... And holy sh!t... Did he smoke me. That is one serious car -- we lined up even at about 40mph, and both went WOT from there... I knew full well ahead of time iit was a losing battle, but was shocked at how hard the Benz pulled away... Dunno what kind of HP or track times that car is good for, but it seemed well into the supercar performance arena...

Shortly thereafter I saw him pull off into the Mercedes dealership ahead... One hell of a test drive for him...

..and he beat a Station Wagon - hope he feels real proud of himself. You can get *how* many SXT's for the price of that thing?

Kinda reminds me of this article:

    http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ons/specs.html

I'd take the Magnum. Looks badder and less than half as much. I'm not impressed with those overpriced "supercars"

SL65 is a fun car to drive and good for high 11's at the track in stock form. I'm working on a black one rite now. Just a little FYI...........the Maybach 57 & 62 use the same engine but it's detuned in those cars.
