Or do they really ride and handle that much better?
I'm from snowy Nova Scotia and don't feel the justifacation of awd ,fuel wear,tear extra stuff to maintain etc.
Or is it a matter of feeling the difference by driving only?

I've got just shy of 20K on my AWD...never had any such noise (yet)
No noise in my 3.5 AWD when turning.
