Well, here is another Air Hammer HO install. I probably have too many pics, but what the heck.
This is what I started with. The Air Hammer HO and all its goodies as it arrived: (You can see the unfinished drywall that I should have been working on instead of playing with the Air Hammer)
I wanted to paint mine to match the body, so here is the primer coat:
And the PRH base coat:
And the fog in the shop after shooting the clear:
I am not much of a painter, but the paint I got from automotivetouchup.com was pretty easy to work with. I had originally planned on painting "SXT" in a stylized graphic on the barrel, but I didn't care for the way it turned out so I removed it and left it plain.
Here is my '06 Magnum before I started:
Here it is after the air box is gone. You can see the stand pipe from the silencer:
And here the silencer has been removed:
And a couple of photos of the finished product:
and finally, the old parts waiting to be used to smack a beaver...
All in all, the installation took less than an hour including the time to take the silencer out. The instructions are clear and it goes in just like they say. The only tricky part is fiddling around to find just the right position to clamp everything down.
I don't know that I would say the car is much louder than before, but the tone from the engine compartment seems much lower and more pleasing to my ear than before. I still have the stock exhaust, so the car is still pretty quiet. Oh, you do get that little decompression hiss at shut down
I shouldn't really speculate on the power. It does seem like there is a lot less hesitation at launch, but I am not a believer in the SOP dyno method.
One of these days I'll order a red filter from the Rev once they are available![]()
