    4 speed Tranny

I'm thinking of getting an exhaust soon, and I was curious, if I do, I love to hear it wind through first gear, but seeing as how I dont have autostick, I can just put it in first, so is it safe for me to run the car in "L" alot of just once in a while, while going down a hill?

its safe to do, and i know a few other members that do it. I do it, but the car wont let you bounce it off the rev limiter. she will still shift at a 6250rpm (i think thats the rpm)

Kool, because I know a guy that I used to go to school with, that blew up it his automatic in his saturn by running it in second all the time, because of the built up heat and pressure.

If you run in L you will always shift at the redline and it will downshift quite abruptly. You will heat up the engine and transmission more than you would in D or 3. I don't know how bad it is for the engine and transmission but I wouldn't do it a lot. I've done it a few times. I tested it drag racing. It makes no different in your ET or top speed if you race D or in L.

I'd only use it in my neighborhood, like how old muscle cars sound, they have let the gear slow them down, so the sound stays right there, the winding of the motor, just to get some attention!

I think that's where I've done it too. Keeps the neighbors happy. Give them the pipes. I'm sure it's fine just in the neighborhood slowing down.
