3.5 and cold start?

When its cold out and your 3.5 has been sitting all day....does it take like a sec longer to start....usually mine jumps right up with in less then a second and the rpms automatically jump up to about 2000 and drop right down.....but yesterday on my way to pick up my sister from school....i started it up...took a sec. longer than normal, and idled at 2000 rpm for like 10 sec.

damn, mine has never idled at 2000rpms, but i do have long starts whether or not its cold out. if the car has sat for 4hours or more, it takes me two tries to get her started. she will idle up and stay at 1k rpms until she starts getting into her operating temp.

my se used to have hard starts anytime i parked it for the night, and went to start it in the morning, i switched to 89 rather than 87, hasnt happened since..

and when its cold yes it will shoot up to about 2000 rpm and comes right back down to about 1500 rpm, then down gradually as it warms up a lil bit..

I have never had the problems you describe. I used to get shudder idle when I had stock exhaust. But since I put on the zoomers and jetII that has not happened again. Go figure.

I have it jump to 2K until reaching normal temp when I start it up but mine isn't my daily driver, so it sits for days at a time. As for not starting right up, I too switched to 89 and the problem stopped.

Try also turning the key only until the dash gauges come on. Wait about 2 seconds and then turn the key all the way to start it.

This will turn on the fuel pump and will help the engine start a little quicker.

We also put 89 octane in and there is a little bit of shudder at first but not bad.
