the weter pump is driven by the timing chain. the pump shaft is sealed at one end to keep oil in the crankcase and sealed at the other end to keep coolant in the water pump. when either seal leaks, the fluid follows a passage and exits near the thermostat housing just above the AC compressor.
#4 is weep hole.

Sorry for posting this so late, but I fixed the problem a few days ago. While I assumed the leak was coming from the a/c compressor, I thought "this is impossible" because a/c compressors don't have coolant inside. It turned out that the radiator hose that's connected to the thermostat housing was loose. This caused coolant to leak onto the a/c compressor. Basically, the gear clamp just needed to be tightened. Let me tell you, it was a pain in the butt to tighten that gear clamp. I had to remove the air box as the gear clamp was not visible. All is well now, no more leaks. Thanks to fnkychkn and Phil for assisting me with this issue.
but where is the bolt to loosen the pipe? do i need to take off my TB and CAI to see it ? can some one put a pic with an arrow so i can see where it is?
Greetings!
I've just signed up with this site and I have just started having this problem last night. Today I get to work and my coolant is boiling like crazy in the tank and there is coolant leaking on the ground. You've posted a pic of the coolant air bleeder and I have pink residue dried up around the coolant air bleeder. Hate i have to drive it home in this comdition. I kind of got lost within the thread trying to read on the topic. Could you give me any advice to what my problem may be? It will be greatly appreciated. My email is tcole77094@gmail.com and my work is tcole@chevron.com
I have a 2007 Chrysler 300
Thanks!
most likely low coolant level from the leak. let it cool off and refill the system with the bleeder loose to allow air to bleed out. once coolant starts to flow from the bleeder, close it and continue to fill the system. that should get you home but you'll need to find and repair the leak.
btw, welcome to LXforums.
probably not a good idea to post your email link on a public forum.
yup sure enough i gotta replace mine about a 350 fix or so damn if i didnt love this car so much i wouldnt do it.
Looks like this problem is only based on the 06 models. at least i hope so.

22's,Dropped and way more 2 come!!!!!!
yup exactly i have an 07 that just started gotta get it replaced youd think that theyd fix it after the issue cam up after the first year.
That was such a common problem on the LH line of cars (Intrepid/Concorde/300m/LHS) that had the 2.7L engine. Thought they got a handle on it...guess not.
Brembos Baby!
yea i know hopefully they figured it out now.
Thank you LXForums! Fixed this last night! It's a 10-15 minute repair (unless you forget to remove the two small screws on the front of the new part like I did...added 10 minutes..I was hurrying). The trick with removing and installing the new part is that you do have to wiggle and muscle it out a bit, but it'll come out just be patient. I didn't disconnect the bolt for the heater hose, on the'06 Magnum you don't have to.
Thanks for this warning man!!!
I actually just had a problem on my 08 300 2.7. 10 mins ago the lower radiator hose started leaking from a hole on it, just happen out of the blue. The car shut off, and the coolant started boiling until empty. After putting water in it to take it to my house the car would start then buck and jerk for a few seconds and shut off........I need help!!!
Thanks
