    winter tire

I need a set of tires for my stock SRT 20's, as the stockers were crap last winter:

what brand do you recommend for these rainy/snowy Ohio months???

I cant seem to find a devoted WINTER tire for a 20" rim......

I did see a good deal for Toyo Proxies 255/45/20 for like 6something shipped....any reports on this tire in the winter???

    cool.......I did some more searching......found a 245/50/20 Blizzak......will a 50 series be ok?

    cant find pricing though.....

I know the Pirelli Ice and snow 245/45/20 are like 300 plus tax each......add in mount/balance........

then Im at the same price of buying a beater for the winter....lol

I just found out the hard way a 50 series is too tall for the front. Rubbing issues with the control arm. They fit fine on the back though.

Now I gotta find two different front tires!!!!

    good info^^^^

Am I wrong in this thought process, but wouldnt the trouble of hitting the control arm be more of a width issue (245), not the sidewall height (50)???....edit....I guess height comes into play as well, given the fact the control arm curves inwards towards the top!!

either way, let me know what you do about the fronts.....

also, what brand and width did u go with for the 50 series tire???

It doesnt hit the actual arm, just the bolt that holds it all together. it sits right above where the top of the tire is.

I went with the bridgestone blizzaks lm-25's. size is 245/50/20. the rear tires fit just fine, no issues with rubbing.

This is probably wacky, but aren't there some cheap 18" wheels that guys are using for drag radials on the SRT8's at the track? 4 cheap 18" rims and lots of choices for tires, try 255/55/18 tires. Then your summer rims won't get sand blasted. The very cheap General Grabber UHP's worked very good for me last winter with 100 lbs sand bags in the trunk, btw. If you can borrow an 18" rim from someone to check if it clears your front and rear Brembos, it might work.

That all sounds good in theory, however, no 18 inch rim will clear the front brembos.

Pmpn8ez, I now have two brand new Blizzaks for sale. They have never been driven on, just mounted on some rims. They will fit on stock rims, or any other 20 x 8 inch rim. They clear the back just fine.
