Todd - I think most of the failures happened for guys that race a lot...and really manifested itself as an issue once temps started dropping.
I'd suggest most of the failures were thread getting borked enough that the torque required to move the nut, unseated the splines/knurl from the wheel assembly. My second one was so bad...first d/r on, DA looking awesome, so needing a personal best run, blah blah blah....that finally Rob Torred and I snapped it with the biggest bar we had (tethered to the jack handle of course)...and luckily i had a spare $16.50 oem one in the travel pack. 20 minutes later good to go.
Anyway...with enough banging twisting, torque, etc....i think we finally compromise the quality of these studs. As a racer I'd suggest 3-5 in anyone's bag. After 3-4 season's may be worth having a rear stud swap and a few extras for track days.
My thoughts anyway - btw, I have 10 in the garage Stell, but great initiative here as always!
