What tire pressure w/Nitto NT555R'S Drag Radials

I just bought these used 20" Nitto NT555R'S Drag Radials, I would like to use these to get together some times for my new 426 Inertia Stroker, SHR Trans and 09 LSD! I'll start with N/A and then, I'll pick up some times w/ Nitrous, and then I'll runn all of them together, that is, if I ever get everything installed and tunned. I need to know, what tire pressure should I use with these tires in the back, and in the front , I'll have Toyo's, not sure what kind, I just bought a winter set and will store my 22"s, I didn't mention, I need a break from the ride quality the 22's have to offer!(2 years ago, I had a 3 level cervical artificial disk replacement) Also, should I do a burnout in the water box, or out of it! and for how long? this will be my 2nd time at the drags! 1rst was Maple Grove this summer, I waited along w/everyone else, all day , for 2 passes! and 1 of them, 1/8 mile

I wouldn't go lower then 20-22psi with the stroker on those, The nitto's have a stiff side wall(for street use on heavy car) so spinning on the rim could occur. I had the nitto's and they worked well if I cooked them good but the M/T's or hoosier DR's are better at the track.

I am running the Nittos in a 305/45R18.
I tried them at 20 psi, and they were not much better than UHP street tires.
I've tried them as low as 15 psi, and that was better than 20psi...but...
17-18psi seems to be the sweet spot for my setup. Don't forget, my car is a little lighter (especially on those days when I fell like removing seats and such), so you may need a couple more psi to achieve the same contact patch.
NOTE: Don't forget to air up your front tires

As for the burnout, back into the box to get the tires wet, then pull ahead 3-4 feet and begin the burnout. You do not want to spin the tires in the puddle. That gets water all up in the wheelwells, and it drips down on the tires as you are staging. Spin them until you see a fair amount of thick white smoke. They need to be pretty warm.

The Nittos are better than trying to run a street tire, but I will be going with Hoosier next year.

I ran mine a 20psi. Going low on the 20's didn't seem to help. They do hook better than a regular radial but no as good as a Hoosier or MT. I had low 1.8's. However, I was on stock axles and easing it out. You should be able to get into the 1.7's with them.

I had the same success with them as I did with my stock F1's. My best 60 was @1.95. Then again I don't think I'm burning them off correctly. Should they pour white smoke?

You really need to heat up the Nittos. I would have pretty much the entire back half of the car covered in smoked. Unfortunately, you won't get many passes out of them doing that. But that is the only way you'll get them to hook.

Those are very different tires; F1's need a little heat while Nittos need the living hell kicked out of them to stick solid.

It doesn't seem like I spin off the line. Does that mean they are hooking? Just curious as whether the added heat can help lead ti a better 60ft? That's why I bought them!

you should be consistently faster off the line. It may not feel like it but you are definitely spinning. Burn those Nitto's hard and as long as you have decent track prep there is no reason you should not be getting 1.8x 60ft's.

Remember, Track prep alway's has the final say on hooking up, I've had several 1.76 60ft. on the 285-35-18 nitto's,.......But I also went nowhere a few time's too!
If track prep stink's you 'll have to roll it out of the hole.

285/35/18's!!! How goofy do those look? That's not even 26".. Isn't there a breaking point on the smaller diameter being beneficial?

for an NA car, those small tires are sick. They do really well on nearly stock SRT's with our gearing. with a power adder or H/C though, they become a moot point and you need to move on.

About as goofy as high 11's with stock motor get's
25.9" or so, taller then M/T 275-40-17 or same size hoosier's. And sure there's a breaking point on the dia. reduction but these tire's aren't it!
