Up on jackstands?
I'm planning on swapping out the rear sway bar in my MSRT for the Hotchkiss bar tomorrow (to go with the front bar I put in a couple of weeks ago). But, the MSRT comes without any jack, and there are no "jacking points" marked underneath (e.g. my RT had embossed triangles). I expect the jack stands should go under the lift points immediately in front of the rear wheels; but, there is only a flat, slightly recessed area in a large piece of plastic there.
How do I get the jack stands to support the car under those flat areas? Pieces of 2x4? My stands are not flat on the tops (somewhat flat/shallow "U" shape) -- seems to me there may be problems with the weight of the back end sitting on a piece of wood supported by the ends of the "U" shape (e.g. the pieces of 2x4 might split). Is there a more secure arrangement to be had?
I know several of you guys have done the rear install yourselves; surely you all don't have lifts. How did you support the back end while you dropped the subframe and snaked out/in the rear bars? Thanks.

What I did was to put the floor jack at the connection of the lower control arm to the rear cross member, jack it up then put the stand in that little recessed area. There really isn't enough room to do it correctly. But the stand will hold the vehicle just fine there. My stands are of the same design (and I think all are, really) and held my vehicle for hours on end (all 4 wheels off @ once) while I painted calipers.

Should have gotten to this post sooner... you can support the SRT exactly the same as the other cars, right in front of the rear wheels, or as Invader said where the control arm mounts. If you do the control arm thing which I did on the RT, I folded over a towel and put it in the jack saddle before I jacked 'er up. Then there's always the option of jacking by the rear diff., but I'm not about to trust it. Set 'er down on the stands and you're good to go. You could always back up onto wheel ramps too if you wanted to.
