    Tire Size Questions??

My father in law has a 2006 300 Hemi C. Currently he has the stock Conti's. 225/60R18's.

He wants a Michelin Tire. The only exact replacement is the Primacy MXV4 however the sales guy said he could try the HydroEdge (because he wanted a higher milage tire) but it only comes in a 225/60R18 which is almost a full inch shorter. Would he have any issues with the computer if he installs a tire that is an inch smaller in diameter?? He is not looking for performace as much as a decent quiet ride? Would the Primacy be better?

Having an inch difference in tire height he's close to having a problem with the HydroEdge without being able to adjust the tire height with a Predator. I would recommend the Primacy and keep the PCM/ECU happy.

    **Edit**

Additionally, he can look at alternative brands like Toyo which are comparable to Michelin without the price tag.

Just curious, how wide are the stock 18" rims? I imagine 245s would have a nice sporty look on those rims.

He is pretty much set on Michelin and they don't have that size listed on their website.

The stock rim is 7.5" wide. The 225/55x18 will not have a high enough load rating. A 235/55x18 is a possibility. I just ran my Michelin MXV4's in that size over 40k miles and they gripped and handled worlds about the stock contis.

225/60 has a rim width range of 6-8" according to the website. 225/60 is his stock size on his 300C.
235/55/r18 is what I have on the Daytona and I was thinking of telling him he could use that size also , (I think his 300C would look better with the lower profile too). However the Primacy MXV4(225/60 only) seem to have a higher rating than the Energy MXV4(235/55 size only). The Primacy also has a higher tread rating (which he is looking for) The 235/55 would probably handle better though. He is a spirited driver but is not looking for performace oriented. More quiet, smooth and long lasting.

Thanks for all the input he will have a decision to make

He can't go wrong with either the 225/60 Primacy or the 235/55 MXV4 Energy tire. However the 235/55 is a little shorter than stock.

In your original post you must have made an error because you posted 225/55 Primacy.

Yer right, fixed now, Thanks. I'm confusing enough without the typo's
Yah I think he'd be happy either way too.
