    thoughts on Eibach sport-system kit

I'm looking at the Eibach sport-system kit with the sportline springs and pro dampers for my 6speed Challenger R/T. Has anyone used this kit or Eibach in general and what are your thoughts on it. how stiff is the ride and how low did the kit take you?

My Prokit dampers & springs were just taken off the car due to them being too low combined with my GRIP fascia. My thoughts are this: The ride is going to be more soft/comfortable than stock (I had Charger SRT suspension) suspension due to the softer lower rated springs.

There's a good and bad to this. The good is that the ride is less harsh because the springs are softer/progressive. This translates to a better ride than stock (stock being CSRT for me) when going over small to moderately sized bumps & dips in the road. However, the softer springs also mean that the car will be allowed to bounce more thus resulting in HORRIBLE scraping and CONSTANT bottoming out when going over any large size bump/dip in the road. My car was bottoming out on a regular basis on NYC streets and thats why I had to get rid of it. The shocks will also bottom out a lot which will result in the loudest, harshest 'THUD' you've ever heard. You will think someone just hit the underside of your car with a 20lb sledgehammer. NOT GOOD for suspension components IMO.

Also IMO, any handling gains from the car being lowered are canceled out by the very soft spring rate. The CSRT suspension HANDLES MUCH better than my Eibach prokit did albeit at the cost of ride comfort and looks. If I ever were to lower my car again, I would only do so with coilovers.... which are way out of my price range so I'm probably going to stick with stock.

I have the Eibach prokit w/dampers on my '06 Magnum SXT and absolutely Love it!!!! The ride is just a little stiffer and the car handles much much much better. It lowered my car inch and a quarter all around.

i had the sportlines and Pro dampers on the mag and it handled like it was on rails... took me down a little over two inches and it was stiff but well worth it for the handling...

Some have had good experiences with Eibach, some not so good. Depends on what you've got now and what you want to achieve. I initially had Eibach, but changed to KW V1s so I could adjust the ride height. I too had issues with being too low and scraping my under-carriage, facia and headers. Additionally, under fast acceleration the springs and dampers kept bottoming out on me until finally I blew the hydraulic seals on both rear dampers. I haven't had any issues with my KWs.

Bottom-line: make sure that the Eibachs fit your driving style as well as the additional mods that you're planning to make.

Also remember that I am coming from SRT suspension. Most of the guys responding are coming from RT suspension. Eibach will be TONS better than RT suspension, but the Eibach shocks and springs are NOT as stiff as the Charger SRT stuff... Period.

In fact, the Charger SRT springs are actually about an inch to 2 inches SHORTER than the Eibach's, yet the Eibachs still sit lower.. thats just proof of how much stiffer the CSRT springs are than the Eibach's. Even they they are shorter, they still hold the car up higher.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for the quick responses. I really want coilovers but that doesn’t fit into my budget right now. One of the biggest things bothering me about the car is the ride high, the gap between the wheels and wheel well is just too damn big. I looked at getting a set of take off Challenger SRT Springs and dampers but from what I've gathered it's not going to get me much lower than the stock setup. My biggest fear is bottoming out and scraping my car. I saw that eibach has another set up that doesn't go as low as the sport kit, maybe that would be better??

seems most people are talking Prokit dampers & springs not Sportlines there is a difference the prokit was meant to be a little lower without loosing the plushness of the stock setup (SRT8 not included) i guess this is why a few guys are saying they are softer then stock.. the prokit is about 1.5 drop.... the sportlines are more aggressive bringing the car down 2 inches with a stiffer feel... one thing you must keep in mind when lowering a car (doesn't matter what you use) you have to change the way you drive you cant just pop over speed bumps and hard charge through bumps or expect to race up into the drive way...

Like I said... it all depends on what you're coming from. For a v6'er ANYTHING is better than stock so coming from an SXT or SE going to an Eibach suspension is gonna seem a like night and day improvement. Similarly, RT owners will also feel a pretty significant improvement in handling. 300SRT suspension is the softest of all SRT suspension and they too may feel a nice bump in performance... but if you're coming from a Charger SRT suspension like I was... there was a decrease in handling. The soft springs were bouncier and the dampening wasn't as aggressive. Again... its all relative.

My prokit damper/springs had the car sitting pretty damn low. I hope you live in an area with really good roads if you're going to go with the Sportlines. IMO they should only be used on a weekend car, not a DD.

Sure hate to have you spend money on something that would be problematic. I suggest saving your coin until you can get want you really want.

While it would be nice to wait I've had the Challenger almost a year and I'm just sick of looking at the huge gap, it almost looks like a 4X4. my old college room mate just picked up a new camaro and when i pulled my challnger up next to his I couldn't believe how high up it was.

as it is, I crawl over speed bumbs and up drive ways. I take good car of my car. but I love to jump on it and feel the pull and torque of the Hemi.

I cant remember what line of Eibach I have (I have the black springs) but I love mine. I did however add front and rear sways at the same time. I highly recomend sways by the way...

Car went from feeling like a boat to riding on rails! I dont bottom out but I do scrape from time to time on speed bumps but I have the 6.1 headers and mids and they sit quite low.

I've had that system on for a while now. (Sportlines, pro dampers, F&R sways) Like Al stated, car handles like it's on rails. I've driven in cars with the pro kit. The Sportlines are much more performance oriented. If a nice firm ride, that looks great and handles like a go cart (5000 lb go cart that is) is what you want, then the Sport-system kit is for you. Do your self a favor......Get the "Sport-system plus kit" if you can. The "plus kit" adds the sway bars. They make a huge difference!!
