    Stock Rim Clear Coat Issue

Has anyone here been having issues with the stock clear coat of the the 18" rims. This is the 3rd one that I have had do this with only 13K on the car and no winters on the rims. The other two were replaced on warranty, I assume this one will be too. This sucks. Im siure the 4th one is comming soon.

All 4 of mine looked like that by 45000 km - only a lot worse. I didn't get them replaced, figured the same would happen again. Instead, the dealer sent them out to be recoated (warranty). Only 5000 km ago - have to see what happens. I have a set of steelies for my snows this year, so maybe that will help.

By 23K two of mine were showing visible clear coat wear/damage.

It made sense that if I got them fixed via the dealership, that it would happen again, probably when the car was out of warranty. So instead of having them redone, I did an exchange program thru my local tire shop, and got chromed stock 18" R/T rims. I got new tires at the same time and it makes for a good look (IMHO)

Had mine replaced this week under Warranty at 34,000 miles. Same exact problem but much worse. Take them in and get them replaced.

The problem is as soon as you get the vehicle aligned and they use a screwdriver to pop the center hubs you are going to be having the same problem all over again.

    Rgr that, Mosie..
I still need to get my extras from Florida and have chromed. I think they really look sweet then.

On my orig with 22k the darker painted silver is peeling between the spokes. Wish I could get the dealer to help with plating cost.. hmmm

Had one replaced under warrenty (worse) but I have 2 others doing the same thing. Winters are going on tomorrow and was thinking of powder coating these over the winter. Would powder coating just cover it up? Maybe I'll run it by the new dealer tomorrow about replacing them.
