Question Staggered on same wheel size? Thoughts?

Im kind of leaning toward an old school look for my Magnum. I have been looking at many wheel and tire combinations for some time. My latest thought is to run 285/50-18 rears with 255/55-18 fronts (29.3 and 28.9 diameter). The only problem, so far,is I have only found 18 x 8.5 wheels.
The tire mfg. states I can run the 285 with these wheels. The question is how will it look with a little more rubber buldging out from the rear than the front? In a way it kind of makes it the old school look running staggered on the same size wheels. Im not a real corner carving driver and am building my Mag for pretty much straight line performance, not that I dont tear it up on a back road now and then. So I would appreciate some feedback from all of you. Thanks!

I think you're fine. You won't notice the wheel not being staggered so much as you'll see NICE MEAT on the rears...and good looking meat on the fronts.

    Go for it!

    I think you'll like it

I too like the staggered look. I moved up to 20" wheels and went with 255/45 on the front and 265/50 on the rear to fill up some of the wheel well's.

The SRTs with the F1's on them run staggered on the same size rims...

we do the same wheels with staggered tires all the time on Chargers, Mags, 300Cs, vettes, stangs, and BMWs. looks pretty cool in my opinion, but i also am a fan of the old school look. did you see my post about putting 275 40 20s on the front and a PHATT 315 35 20 on the rear of a 20x9 rim on a Magnum with the pics to go with it. it looked awesome in person. the pics just dont do it justice. but i am with mikesmag, 20s are the way to go with the LX platform cars, there is so much more to choose from and the prices are in most cases the same or lower than the 18s since there is such a wider selection. in fact we sell more 22s for the LX platform that we do 18s, but by far 20s ar the most common.

As long as you've got the offset right, this is a setup that will work fine and look good. Don't be too concerned about the difference in tire width because the rear tires will only be a little more than half an inch wider to each side of the rim. It'll give you the staggered look you're after.
