    Red face SRT 8 Wheels

"I have been dazed and confused for so long its not true"... (Robert Plant) but have finally narrowed down my wheel choice for my Maggie, to either the Foose Nitrous Gray or SRT8 Magnum wheels.

Seem to recall seeing a couple of threads where the SRT Wheels have been put on non SRTs??? Could anyone help, and if anyone with a Silver RT has put them on theirs please let me know I am really thinking this is the way to qo, love the Foose wheels and especially the set up on MAGS but dont know if the Chicago winters will be too tuff and dont want to switch them.

    Thanks for your help!!!

I own an SRT and if I had an RT the last thing I would do would try and make it look like an SRT. Go with the Foose...it is your ride, make it different.

Thanks for the input and my apology did not mean any offense to any of the SRT owners, no intention to make a copy RT SRT. Just want a larger wheel, like I did on my 95 SL600 staggered AMG 18s. Maybe DC should set up SRT as the HIPO OEM Parts for other DC vehicles, like AMG does. I have always been concerned about putting non OEM on a car and warranty issues. The plan was have my Dodge dealer do the wheels and at the same time the Mopar Coil overs to lower it and if needed the front alignment when done.

Like 5 spokes and want something close to Old School, but do not want chrome on a silver car too much bling for my taste, the Black my wife is not wild about and I think the polished are too close to chrome. An issue with the Foose is the small hub shows too much of the Rotor Hub, also concern about how the Foose would hold up in bad weather. The perfect solution would be if someone would do the RT wheel in a 20 or 22, its a great wheel but want a little more tread and to fill the wheel opening with more wheel.

One other wheel was the Oasis "Magnum" wheel thought it was great on the SEMA Magnum Force finished in the same Silver as the stripes on the car but have been told to go 22 with that wheel for the full effect finished in silver $900 per wheel direct from Oasis and 22 I think is too much wheel. I have also been looking at the Intro Wheels, nice again $3,000 + for 4 and just polished. There are some decent wheels on Newstalgia Wheel website but not certain if any of them come in a Silver or Hyper Silver finish.

Anyway thanks for advice Cubuff, and again apology.

The last thing I was trying to do was make an srt clone. I liked the wheels for the price. Couldn't have gotten anything near as good looking for the money.
With a 3mm spacer you can pick up off ebay for like $25, they work perfect with no issues.

I have an RT. I bought the SRT8 wheels because they look awesome. They are the best OEM wheel made. They are forged and polished. You can beat the look and the price. Most people dont know the difference btwn an RT and an SRT. They just see a station wagon that is fixed up. I put the SRT wheels on my midnight blue Magnum because IT IS DIFFERENT. It is not a clone. SRT dont come in blue. I dont have the chrome bumper pieces or the SRT front clip. My RT Mag looks great with just the SRT wheels alone, IMHO Also, I am not trying to pass it off as an SRT either.

Put on the wheels that you like. Price wise and looks, you cant beat a set of SRT8 wheels. Foose wheels are awesome as well. If you have the $, go with the Foose. It is your car, your tastes and your decision. Go with what you want. Have fun modding you car.
    PEACE OUT YO!!!

Nightrider and Shaggin Magnum thanks guys for the input here really appreciate it, and for all the reasons you have suggested I want the SRTs. A couple questions for you guys.

Nightrider you mentioned a little Rub and spacers, where did you have the rubbing? Do you have any shake with the spacers?

Shaggin you have any rubbing issues?

I was contemplating going with the 255 45 20 on all 4 wheels. Also the offset seems like an issue. Nightridder you said yours were from the Charger wonder if they are different than the Maggie.

Thanks again guys appreciate the support.

The rubbing was only in reverse with the wheel turned far to one side or another. Never got any rubbing going forward. Actually rode that way for a couple months (without the spacers); problem was if I let someone else drive, they didn't know to be gentle with the angle in reverse, and if they were real aggressive you'd hear some bad sounds.

The spacers work perfect, no shaking, or shimmy of any sort. They are only 3mm, it is about as thin as you can get. Cleared my problem up in reverse though. I've been through tight turns, on the highway 80+ and haven't noticed anything to be concerned about.

I have a silver Mag R/T as well and I agree about the black and/or chrome on a silver car (no offense anyone). If you want a good choice of styles, including "old school" and you have the $$$, check out the Boze line. They're what I've landed on (I have AWD which makes it MUCH more difficult to find wheels I like). They offer your choice of finish, including a beautiful brushed finish. The only problem is they hit the wallet pretty hard.

Try to avoid the Ebay spacers, as they are made in China of god knows what.
They are some "one size fits all" creation. If and when they crack under stress, all sorts of bad things will happen. If you must use a spacer, go with a billet
which is machined with the correct hub diameter and 115mm bolt spacing.
Or, do what I did. Mark the spot on the control arm where the wheel is rubbing, and get out your drill with a grinding wheel. Grind about 3mm off, and no more
rubbing, and no spacers. Nice and smooth, and a little black spray paint and
    your all fixed up.

I agree with all this. I am curious how much stress is put on the actual spacer because it is so thin. Would the majority of the force still be transfered to the hub?

I personally like the Charger SRT8 wheels. Best looking wheels of all, aftermarket included. Actually I like all of the SRT8 wheels. Too bad I cannot afford or justify any of them. I had a 94 Dodge Ram that I bought new and it took me 8 years to find a set of reasonably priced Indy Pace truck wheels for it. Bought two of 'em at a swap meet for $100.00 and two more online for $250.00. Still cost me less than one new one from a dealer. It may take me 8 years but I will have a set of SRT8 Charger wheels. Oh, I dokeep my (new) cars a long time.

There shouldn't be any stress on the spacer unless you somehow managed to put enough torque on the bolts to "squish"/crack the spacer.. in which case, unless the spacer was tapered (alot of Chinese casting/machine work has been poop over the years), you would have either a thinner spacer or a spacer with cracks in it that would cause it to fall apart when you took the wheel off. I SERIOUSLY doubt the spacers would fail under any circumstances, I honestly can't come up with any instance where it COULD fail... :?

But, properly machined, application specific parts are always better than universal chinese stuff.. durability, fit and finish.

EDIT: I knew I was forgetting something... If these spacers are known for taper then you could have a wobble in your ride. That would not be kool.

    * Forget any sort of warranty coverage if the steering knuckle happens to break on you after you've ground on it.

A 3mm spacer behind the SRT8 wheels on a 5.7L LX works perfect. You'll still have engagement on the center raised area of the hub(critical).

Steering knuckle break? Are you serious? Have you looked at this thing?
I didn't say I ground half way through it. 3mm off of each ridge on each side.
Don't get all touchy because I offered another fix for the rubbing issue.
If anything is going to break, it would be a cheap Chinese spacer. Which then
would stress the lugs, causing them to snap. Then the wheel comes off.
I think I will stick with smoothing 3mm off the knuckle.
